Loads of Love Card - for Dies R Us Inspiration Blog

I'm posting today for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog, where it's always my pleasure to create something with my lovely and growing collection of wonderful dies from the Dies R Us Store

My husband loves old trucks, so when trying to figure out his Valentine's card for this year, an old truck seemed like a good choice:

This old truck is by Cheapo Dies and is called Loads of Love.  I also used a set of stitched snowdrift dies from Lawn Fawn.

Here's all the supplies and papers I used:

Here's everything die cut.  I cut out extra wheels and hubcaps so I could keep the best 2 to use on the truck. Gluing small things together can be tough for me, so I gave myself extra chances :)

I thought the truck could use some rust, so a little metallic wax did the trick:

I used a hot foil machine and a foil stamp to achieve the background on this card.  I really like the look you can achieve with hot foil:

I used Stick It Sheets to adhere the letters to the card.

I wanted to make sure you've heard the exciting news!  Dies R Us now has a sister store located in Canada called Didi Crafts.  It will ship both to the Us and Canada.  Didi Crafts will carry some of the same products as Dies R Us, but most will be different.  Now our Canadian friends don't have to pay huge taxes or large shipping costs.  How great is that?!?!

I hope you check this blog every day for wonderful inspiration!  The design team is so creative, you don't want to miss anything.  Then, join in the challenges at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  Here's one last link to the Dies R Us Store for you, too!

A Truck Full of Thanks -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

Today is the first Wednesday of November (how did that happen, anyway?), and that means there is a new challenge starting today at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die that is sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  Scrapy Land sells dozens and dozens of brands of dies, so this is very easy to do!  Shop the Scrapy Land Store here, and see for yourself!

Since it is November, and Thanksgiving is celebrated this month here in the USA, I wanted to make a Fall/Thanksgiving card for today's challenge.  Here's my creation:

The truck is a die from Cheapo Dies called Loads of Love.  It is no longer available, but search for 'trucks' in the search engine, and we will find several very cute ones, including this one from Impression Obsession and Bob's Old Truck in 2 sizes from Frantic Stamper.

I made the truck look a bit "rusty" using some metallic wax from Spectrum Noir.

That big pumpkin in the back of truck is on its way to a pumpkin weighing contest.  It might just win!!  It is a die from Yvonne Creations.  It is called Fabulous Fall Collection - Autumn Leaves.  Of all the die collections I've purchased from the Scrapy Land Store, this is my go-to set, especially this time of year!  It makes beautiful fall leaves, acorns, toadstools, and yes, pumpkins!

The stitched oval die is from Spellbinders.  Many companies have similar dies, including these from Lawn Fawn, these from Tutti Design, and these from Elizabeth Craft

The paisley print background paper is from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  It is from the Howdy Autumn Collection. The sentiment, also from the We Are 3 Digital Shop, is one of the Itty Bitty Collection.

The burlap ribbon behind the stitched oval die is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I thought it added just the right amount of texture to a fall card.

I hope you can join us the next 2 weeks at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  One winner gets a $15 gift certificate to the Scrapy Land Store!

Summer Flip Flops

I'm posting today for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.  I love the days I post on the Dies R Us Blog.  I usually color all my projects, so it's a great break to create with dies.

Summer is fast losing it's heat here in the Northland where I live, so I am clinging to every day that remains!  That is what made me create this summertime card -- summer flip flops!

The Dies R Us Store has many cute flip flops that would work on this card.  Just put in flip flops in the search engine and see what comes up.  I liked these from Cheapo Dies.  I think they would be great for a patriotic themed project, so I know I'll be using them again.

Here's a picture of the supplies I used on this card:

I had the idea in my head, but it took a lot of playing to get the shades of paper that were either bright enough of dark enough to show up the way I wanted them.  I backed everything with Stick It Adhesive Sheets. If you haven't tried Stick It, I highly recommend it.  It works great on small things, like words, and intricate things, like the Flip Flops. Just peel off the sticky layer, place it on the back of your paper, die cut your project, then peel off a second time to reveal the glue.  It's very easy to use and you can cut it to the exact size you need!

The sentiment was created with the Impression Obsession die, Hello Summer.  This has been my go-to die for summertime projects.  The words are a great size!  I love this die!

I used 2 dies from the Memory Box Wrapped Stitch Rectangles to mat and back the Flip Flops

Here are photos and links of the products used in the Dies R Us Store:

The flip flop paper and textured paper on this card are both digital.  They were made by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, and are part of her Taste of Summer kit.

Sweet Birthday Heart -- for Dies R Us

I'm happily posting today for Dies R Us Inspiration Blog. I love my opportunities to play with my way-too-large collection of fun dies! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, but I wanted to show you that those heart dies are good for more than just Valentine cards.  I use them all year long.  For today's post, I made a sweet birthday card using a heart shaped card base and layered hearts.  Take a look:

I started with the largest heart die in my collection, which happens to be this lattice die from Spellbinders, but Frantic Stamper has a beautiful one, too, that would work the same way.   I cut the die 3 times - once, with ocean colored paper, once with spun sugar paper, then again, folded in 1/2 and a portion of the paper NOT in the die to get the fold on the card.  I did this with the same spun sugar colored paper so if it didn't line up exactly, it would be less likely to show (a trick I've learned through the years).

The sentiment is computer generated.  It's a New Release sentiment from We Are 3 Digital ShopI started a tutorial using the sentiment "Sweet Day", then changed my mind 1/2 way through the project and made this into a birthday card, so please excuse the shift in the tutorial here.

First step, I print the sentiment on white copy paper, sizing it what I think will work.  Print.  Place heart over sentiment.  If it fits.  Yea!  If it doesn't, adjust size and print on copy paper again.  When you have the size correct, tape the color card stock onto the white copy paper you plan to use.  It looks like this:

White copy paper is an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet.  The pink card stock is probably 3 x 4 inches.  Send this through your printer again.  Next, die cut with the heart:

I tape my die cuts down with washi tape.  It's easy to remove, and doesn't remove paper or ink (most of the time).  Once I have things centered the way I want it, and taped how I like it, I send it through my die cutting machine.  That step is done!

The floral heart frame is a die from Cheapo dies.  I cut it a total of 3 times.  I cut it once out of Pixie (pink), once out of purple, cutting out 2 flowers in that color, and once out of ocean, cutting out 2 flowers out of that color.  Then, I glued them all to the floral heart frame using the Best Glue Ever.

That's it!  A birthday heart-shaped card is complete!

Here's a list of the products I used on today's project, with the links:

Holiday Greetings for a Deer Friend -- and for Dies R Us

Holiday Greetings, deer friends (pun intended)!  I'm posting today on the Dies R Us inspiration blog. Is Christmas really less than 10 days away?  Yikes!

I have a super simple holiday card to share with you today.  You can whip it up in a flash, when you realize, you're short of cards.  It can work for either masculine or feminine!  Yea!

I love this Cheapo Dies Scrolly Deer.  It die cuts beautifully in every material I've tried it with.   I think it's so elegant.  Place it center stage on a card, and bam!  your card is all but done.

I didn't use many supplies on this card, but here they are:

Dies R Us products used:

Papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop. The houndstooth paper is a new release this month.  It's one of the new Holiday Houndstooth papers.  The light colored background paper is part of the Holiday Wishes Collection

Altered Christmas Canister

Christmas greeting, fellow crafters.  I'm posting on the Dies R Us blog today. If you're like me, I know you're busy with holiday EVERYTHING!  For some of the really special people on my list, I like to not only give them a special gift, but also an original gift package.  While I think gift bags are the greatest thing since toast, sometimes that special gift calls for something a bit more, well, unique!  Like this, perhaps....

This is a Kraft container that I've had in my stash of alterable goodies forever, and I pulled it out to decorate for a special friend.

Here's a picture of the supplies I used.  I'll list and link them at the end:

I covered the container with a Christmas paper, keeping the pattern simple and small so it wouldn't overwhelm the die cuts.

Next, I got busy cutting out all those pretty Christmas die cuts:

After that was done, it was just a matter of using some of the Best Glue Ever to attach the die cuts to the container.

The tree was so lacy and delicate that it got lost in the paper, so I backed it with a label die:
In case you're wondering what gift is going in the can, one of my best friend loves socks.  I have a couple of very fun pairs of socks to fit inside.  Perfect!
