An Amazing Hummer -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and that means it's time for a new challenge over on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Challenges go for 2 weeks, and are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a die sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  Scrapy Land sells over 55 brands of dies (that equates to hundreds of dies) so you have plenty to choose from!

I love hummingbirds!  They are beautiful, incredible flyers, very spunky, and great fun to watch at a bird feeder.  If you've ever been lucky enough to see a hummingbird nest, it's a sight you'll not soon forget.  So, when I saw this Creative Expressions Triple Layer Collection Hummingbird die, I had to have it!

This particular die has sold out, but there are other Creative Expressions Triple Layer dies in the Scrapy Land Store.  I really like the Triple Layer dies.  They are very easy to work with, and you can use 1, 2, or all 3 layers like I did here.

The outside frame is also from Creative Expressions.  It is no longer available, but is the Poppy Frames & Tags dies set.  I used the outside layers to create this card.

The patterned papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  The metallic paper used with the hummingbird was purchased from Crafters Companion.  The sentiment is an acrylic stamp from Close To My Heart, and the crinkle ribbon is from D.L. Art.

Here's another view where the metallic shine shows a little differently:
I found the hummer a bit difficult to photograph with the reflection of the metallic paper.

Anything Goes with a die from the Scrapy Land Store -- easy, right?  I hope you join us this next 2 weeks!  I'd love to see your creations!

I'd also like to give you a chance to win some blog candy I have.  I turned 60 on July 6th, and I have over $60 of crafty supplies I'm giving away to a lucky winner.  See this post for details on how you can win it.

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
D.L. Art -- July Linky Party
Always Fun Challenges -- Paper Piecing (dragonfly)
Crafty Cardmakers -- Here Comes Summer
Dragonfly Dreams -- Things with Wings
Outlawz Sunday Songs & Rhymes -- first bird singing

USA Pup - for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the first Wednesday of the month, which means it's time for a new challenge at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  It's also the day before Independence Day here in the US, so I'm going with a Patriotic Theme for today's challenge project.

First, though, some information about Scrapy Land Challenges: Challenges run for 2 weeks, and are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a die that the Scrapy Land Store sells.  Scrapy Land carries over 55 brands of dies, so you have plenty to choose from!  There are 2 winners each challenge for a $10 gift certificate.

In honor of July 4th, here's my Patriotic Pup:

I started by cutting out the 3 stitched stars.  They are from Avery Elle. If you used the search engine in the Scrapy Land Store, you will find many similar star dies that would work.  Then, using an alphabet die set from Spellbinders, I die cut the USA.  Scrapy Land doesn't carry this exact alphabet, but has many that would work just the same as this one did.  Again, use the search function to find them.

I colored up the cute, patriotic pup from Bugaboo Stamps, fussy cut him, and glued him to the front of the card.  I found the blue/stars background paper at Pixel Scrapper.  It is digital.  I wanted the stars to be very small, so instead of printing it on a full sheet of paper, I brought it into a Pages software and shrunk it to a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 size to make the stars nice and small.

The cute patriotic flair button and pretty crinkle ribbon are from D.L. Art.

Anything Goes with a die Scrapy Land Store sells -- easy, right?  I do hope you join us in the next 2 weeks!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Outlawz Festive Fridays -- your national flag
Cut It Up Challenges -- Red, White, and Blue
Papercraft Challenge -- stars
Digichoosday -- ATG

Love Bug -- for Di's Digi Designs Challenge Blog

It's Saturday, and it's time for a new challenge at Di's Digi Designs Challenge Blog.  For the next 2 weeks, the challenge theme is, "Make it Girly".  You'll find many wonderful stamps in the Di's DigiStamps shop you can use for this theme!

Here's my "Make it Girly" themed card using Love Bug:

I colored Love Bug with Copic markers, then went on the hunt for the right papers.  I found this paper with ladybugs on it in the We Are 3 Digital Shop.  It is part of the Ladybug Lace Collection.  (There's now a Ladybug Lace Too to check out also!)  The blue paper behind the image is from the Bird Songs paper pack.  The pretty crinkle ribbon is from D.L. Art.  It is peacock colored.  The stitched dies and the 'hello' sentiment are from Avery Elle.

'Make it Girly' -- I think it's a theme that comes easy for most of us, so I hope you can join us this next two weeks at Di's Digi Designs Challenge Blog.  Di has the absolute cutest digis that you could win -- like this one!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Layered Hello Card -- for Dies R Us

Hello, hello, hello!  I'm on the Dies R Us Inspiration blog today, and I really layered up with today's card! Let me show you what I mean!

Can you see all the different layers?

I started with my card base.  Layer 1.

I used a Sue Wilson craft die -- the Belgian Collection -- to create most of the layers.  There are more layers to the die than I used, so you could really build and build and build!

I used the 2 largest layers (4 dies) on this card (layers 2-5).

The rose die is from Cheapo Dies (layer 6).

I cut the 'Hello' sentiment (layer 7) out of silver foil paper to give it enough contrast to really show up against all the paper layers. The 'Hello' is a die from a set by Impression Obsession.

The Best Glue Ever was the perfect adhesive to put all these layers together!

Here's a picture of all the layers once they were cut, but before they were assembled:

Once again, the assembled, highly layered "just because" card:

Papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are from the Pinkalious paper collection and the Touch of Teal paper collection. The Crinkle Ribbon was an awesome prize I won from D.L. Art challenge blog.  Thank you, Diane!

Don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store.  For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

You are Too Tweet! for Tiddly Inks and We Are 3

Tiddly Inks and We Are 3 -- 2 Tweet companies that I'm posting for today.  Bonnie Kohane, the owner of We Are 3 Digital Shop, gave me a gift certificate for Tiddly Inks for Christmas because she knew  I liked to color up cute images, and cute dogs (there are some awesome ones at Tiddly Inks!).  Since one of the new releases this month at We Are 3 Digital Shop is the Vintage Bird paper collection, I thought I would pick a digi stamp to color up that would work well to go with the paper.  This is the image I chose.  Before I even got it colored, Christy announced a design team call at Tiddly Inks, and I just have to give it a try!  When I first started learning how to color with Copic markers quite a few years ago now, Tiddly Inks were some of the first images I learned on.  I've loved Tiddly Inks ever since.

Here's Wryn and Wren Too Tweet:

I colored Wryn and Wren Too Tweet with Copic markers, and used the sentiment that comes with the set.

As I mentioned above, the papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are from one of this month's New Releases, Vintage Bird paper collection.  These are beautiful papers in soft pinks, peaches, browns, and tans, with hints of green.

I constructed the card using a Spellbinders label die set.  The lace was purchased at Hobby Lobby, and the peacock colored crinkle ribbon is from the D.L. Art Etsy Store.  I won it from a challenge at D.L. Art.  Thank you, Diana!!!

I hope you have enjoyed Wryn and Wren.  I certainly enjoyed coloring them up, working with these beautiful papers, and making them into a card!

If you'd like information on the Tiddly Inks design team call, you'll find it in this post.

Owl say Hello -- for Julia Spiri

I have a bit of mid-month inspiration today for the Julia Spiri Challenge Blog.   Our challenges go for a month.  The themes are Anything Goes with a twist.  If you choose to participate in this month's twist, it's 'Vintage'.

For today's card, I used the image 'Griselda with Owl' and colored her with Copic markers:

I fussy cut Griselda with Owl after coloring her.  The card base was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  Papers for this card are by Echo Park and Close To My Heart (card stock).  The peacock colored crinkle ribbon is from D.L. Art's Etsy Store.  The foil 'Hello' was purchased at Hobby Lobby.

I hope you join the Julia Spiri Anything Goes with optional Vintage Challenge this month.  You have plenty of time.  I'd love to see what you make, and we have great prizes!

What's Up, Mom?

I have 2 monthly progressive challenges that I like to enter each month. Here are my entries into both the challenges -- Gerda Steiner's Monthly Challenge and The Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge.

I'll start first with my entry for the Outlawz Progressive Challenge.   The image this month is provided by my talented friend, Andrea Norris, of Sheepski Designs.   She has 2 versions, depending on what you call your mother in your neck of the woods.

Here's what I created for my Mother-in-law for the upcoming Mother's Day holiday:

I printed the Mom digi on Copic X-press It Blending card, then colored it with Copic markers.  I have some new dies from JustRite Dies that I used on this.  The Ribbon is from D.L. Art's Etsy Store.  It is part of the Valentine Bundle.

On to the entry for the Gerda Steiner Challenge:

This tag uses 'Hang In There Monkey,' a digi found in the Gerda Steiner Store.  I colored the Monkey with Copic markers, then used a variety of dies by Paper Wishes to create the tag.  The plaid paper is from Lawn Fawn, as is the sentiment and the word bubble die. The card stock and fibers are from Close To My Heart.  Love that hanging monkey!

That's all for me today.  Off to find some challenges to enter these in:

A Bit Chilly -- for Crafty Sentiments Designs

It's time for a new challenge at the Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog.   Back by popular demand, our theme this week is, "Anything Goes!"

We get a lot of rain where I live in April and May, so I thought this adorable rubber stamp by Crafty Sentiments Designs would be perfect!  This is 'A Bit Chilly'.

I colored 'A bit Chilly' with Copic markers, matching her to the My Mind's Eye designer papers on the card base.

The crinkle ribbon is from D.L. Art's Etsy Shop.  This is from the Valentine bundle.

The stitched dies are from Die-namics.  The umbrella die is from Echo Park (I think).

I hope you can join us this week for our Anything Goes Challenge at Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog.  I'd love to see what you make!

Charming -- for The East Wind

It's Tuesday, and that means it's New Release day at The East Wind.  Every Tuesday and Friday, a new digi is released in the Etsy Store.   Today's new release, direct from nature, is called, 'Northern Red Shafted Flicker'.  If you're not a 'birder', you may want to Google this!

I tried to use some of the colors in the Flickers I see in the woods around my house when coloring this image with Copic markers.  I also added some feathers to the tag to stay true to the bird effect.

The papers on this tag were won in a challenge at D.L. Art.  Thanks, Diana!

The dies used on this tag are from Craftin' Desert Divas and Paper Wishes. The sentiment is a stamp from Close To My Heart.  The ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM.

Check out The East Wind's Etsy shop to find today's new release, plus many other wonderful digi  must-haves! Please join The East Wind's Facebook Group, too.
