Old as the Dinosaurs -- for Polkadoodles

Have you seen the new release at Polkadoodles?  I'm loving this new collection, Sticks & Bones!  It's great for just about anything -- birthdays, friendship, children, male, treat bags, I've been using it LOTS!   Yesterday, I needed a birthday card, and I just knew this Sticks & Bones collection would be PERFECT! The Sticks & Bones Collection is available in Digital Download & CD.  Here's my birthday card...

The only thing NOT from the Sticks & Bones Collection is the ribbon.  It's from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Everything else -- papers, pre-printed image, sentiment -- it all came from the collection.  I thought it would all look charming on a front centered step card, so I created one of those with a Sizzix die set.

You can see more of wonderful inspiration for this Sticks & Bones Collection by visiting the Polkadoodles Crafting Facebook group.  It's well worth checking out!

Key To My Heart -- Coloring Without Boundaries and Lacy Sunshine

I am super excited to share this post with you today!  Heather  Valentin, artist of the ever-delightful Lacy Sunshine images, has started a new Facebook coloring group called Coloring Without Boundaries.  It is a group to share all your coloring projects.  Today is also the launch of a new challenge on the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog.  Visit the blog for details, and to see the fantastic showcase coloring pieces for this uber talented design team!

I used the delightful new image, Lil Tumble's Enchanted Keyhole
Here's what I created:

Let me take you through the process of how I got there:

Starting with skin.... I used Copic markers throughout.  E0000, E00, E04, E11,E21,R20:

Then, I added her hair.  I love this hair combo!  It's B99, B93, V04, and I used C01 as my lightest color.  I color my hair from dark to light.  Her green eyes are: G20, G21, G24, and G28.

Next, her dress.  I wanted a color that would match the hair, so I chose a shade of violet.  I used V000, V01, V04, and V09.  I said I color hair dark to light, but the dress, and most everything else, I color light to dark.  I put my lightest (in this case V000) color down first.  Then, I jump to my darkest color (here, it was V09), then work my way back down to the lightest color.

After the dress, I finished the rest of the project --
Keys -- Y11, Y23, Y26, Y28
Keyhole -- E70, E71, E74
Vines -- G40, G43, G46
Flowers -- YG00, RV00, Rv02, RV04
Dragonfly -- BV00, BV01, BV04, V000, BG000, BG01

I wanted to finish this piece into a card, although it isn't a requirement for the new coloring challenge blog.  She just seemed to need something with a key behind her, and a "key to my heart" sentiment.  Here she is, fussy cut and on a card:

I cut the key out on my Silhouette Cameo.  The background paper is from Michele R Designs.  The sentiment is computer generated and cut out with a heart-shaped die.

Follow Your Heart -- for Great Impressions Stamps

It's Saturday -- my day to post on the Great Impressions Stamps blog.  Yea!  The stamps are so delightful, and in today's case, whimsical!

With Valentine's Day getting ever closer, I made another 'heart' card:

I stamped the Great Impressions rubber stamp, Skunk with Flowers (F606) on white card stock.  I colored just the flowers with bright, neon Copic markers, then fussy cut the image.

I cut the card front out on my Silhouette, using a file from The Cutting Cafe.  I stamped the Great Impressions sentiment Follow Your Heart (B219) directly on the card base.

There you have it -- an easy, CAS-style card, ready for Valentine's Day.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Love Struck! -- for Oddball Art

Today, I have some mid-challenge inspiration for you from Oddball Art.  The Oddball Art Challenge blog has a month-long challenge going on, and the theme is "All You Need is Love."

This panda needs some lovin', don't you think?

I used Oddball Art digi #226 (Chubs, the Panda) on this card.  I shaded Chubs with Copic markers, and used a Susan Wilson oval die to cut it out.

The card design was found in the Silhouette Design store, and I cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.  The sentiment is computer generated, and seemed to fit the expression on Chubs face :)

I hope Chubs, and this card inspires you to join our challenge at Oddball Art Challenge blog.   Stop by the Etsy Shop and pick out a great new image to create with.  Use discount code DTJULIE10 to get 10% off of your entire order!

Never Forget I Love You -- for The Cutting Cafe Shop

I am super excited for today's post!  The Cutting Cafe Shop now has clear stamps!  If you are a regular follower of my blog, you know I often using cutting files from The Cutting Cafe.  What could be better than clear stamps to go with those files?  I am SO excited!

There are 3 new Valentine sets in the store, and 3 Christmas sets. I used one of the new Valentine sets, Animal & Bug Love.

I colored the elephant with Copic markers, and used a Spellbinders circle die to cut him (her?) out. The card front, cut out on my Silhouette Cameo, is a cutting file found at the Cutting Cafe.  It's the Valentine Window Card Tops cutting file.   The sentiment, also part of the Animal & Bug Love stamp set, was stamped directly onto the card front.

The design team is posting cards all week using the 3 new Valentine sets.  Check out The Cutting Cafe - Be Inspired group on Facebook to see all of the wonderful creations using the new sets.  Then, go SHOP!

Charming -- for The East Wind

It's Tuesday, and that means it's New Release day at The East Wind.  Every Tuesday and Friday, a new digi is released in the Etsy Store.   Today's new release, direct from nature, is called, 'Northern Red Shafted Flicker'.  If you're not a 'birder', you may want to Google this!

I tried to use some of the colors in the Flickers I see in the woods around my house when coloring this image with Copic markers.  I also added some feathers to the tag to stay true to the bird effect.

The papers on this tag were won in a challenge at D.L. Art.  Thanks, Diana!

The dies used on this tag are from Craftin' Desert Divas and Paper Wishes. The sentiment is a stamp from Close To My Heart.  The ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM.

Check out The East Wind's Etsy shop to find today's new release, plus many other wonderful digi  must-haves! Please join The East Wind's Facebook Group, too.

Brrr Baby! for Crafty Sentiments

It's Tuesday, and it's time for a new challenge at the Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog.   This week's theme is always popular -- it's Anything Goes!

Since it's January, and I live in Wisconsin, I decided to go with a Winter-themed card.  There are so many delightful snowman stamps in the Crafty Sentiments Designs Store!

I used rubber stamp Having Fun on this card, coloring it with Copic markers.

The card base was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo, with a file found in the Silhouette Design Store.  The sentiment is a stamp from Craftin' Desert Divas.  The bling added to the card base is from my stash.

I hope you join our Anything Goes challenge this week at Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog

I colored Welcome Christmas with Copic markers, then used several sizes of Spellbinders circle dies to cut it out and back to.  The snowflake die is from Simon Says Stamp.  I used my new Minc machine to add the shimmer to it.   The sentiment is from Close To My Heart.

Tons of Love -- for Great Impressions Stamps

It's another Saturday, and another post for Great Impressions Stamps. I am having so much fun on this team!

Today, I'm showing off the delightful Heart Struck Elephant(F571):

I colored Heart Struck elephant (F571) with Copic markers, and fussy cut it out. I mounted this onto a circle die cut. Then I stamped the coordinating sentiment A Ton (B238) directly onto the card base.

It's Friday, and that means there's a New Release today at The East Wind.  Today's release is a particularly sweet one.  I was in need of a Get Well card, so I used Aurora'Gorogoro' with that in mind:

I colored Aurora 'Gorogoro' with copic markers, then used several Top Dog dies to cut out the image and circle die cut.  The sentiment is a stamp from Paper Wishes.  The designer papers are the Delicate Asters Collection from Heartfelt Creations.

It's Thursday, and time for a new challenge at the Star Stampz Challenge Blog.   Our theme for the next 2 weeks is 'Snowflakes or Snow.'  Since we've got cold AND snow where I live, I heartily embrace this theme!

I used Star Stampz, "Me and My Snowman" on this card, colored with Copic markers.  I followed the snow theme with the snowman, the Doodle Bug Designs background paper, & the die cut snowflakes (Cheery Lynn).

I used a sketch from this month's challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up on this card.

Have you tried Pocket Letters yet?  That's the theme of the challenge for the next two weeks at the Julia Spiri Challenge blog

I had to do a little research (on Pinterest, of course ), before I started my Pocket Letter. Here's my first attempt at one!

I use the Julia Spiri image, Teddy & Gift on this project.

Here's a close up of the Teddy & Gift -- colored with Copic markers.

Spread Your Wings & Fly -- for The Cutting Cafe

This week, at The Cutting Cafe, the design team is showcasing Bendi/Bendy cards.  These cards are really fun, full of lots of possibilities for variety and embellishing!

Here's my Bendi/Bendy card:

I cut the Bendy/Bendi card out, including the layers and the heart trim. The card went together very easily and quickly.

The image is a pre-printed image from Polkadoodles Store.  The sentiment is also from Polkadoodles. Embellishments are from my stash.

Fixing to Have a Great Day -- for Digi Choosday

It's Tuesday, and that means Digi Choosday.  That can only mean 2 things -- another awesome challenge starts today at the Digi Choosday Challenge blog, and an even more awesome digi coupon is good for 24 hours only in the Polka Doodles store.  Digi Choosday

My good friend and her husband spent well over a year remodeling the main floor of their house.  It is virtually complete.  I made this card in her honor.  I used this image from the Work & Play 11 collection (CD) & (Digital Download). The female painter/decorator image is available here.  Papers are from the same collection.  Since this week's theme is stitching -- faux or real, I faux stitched around the image, and chose a slightly different pattern to faux stitch around the sentiment.  I kept the rest of the card CAS to draw attention the the image, Copic coloring and faux stitching.

The Cool Blues challenge at Digi Choosday goes on for another weeks, and this Faux or real Stitching challenge will last 2 weeks.  Please join us!  Join our Digi Choosday Facebook group, too!

If Snowflakes were Kisses -- for Path of Positivity

It's time for some mid-month inspiration on the Path of Positivity Challenge blog.  Our theme this month is "prosperity".  Our sponsors this month are:

For today's card, I used an image from Limited Run Digis

The Limited Runs Stamps digi is called Catching a Snowflake.   I colored her with Copic markers.  The sentiment was made for me, just for this challenge, by Lisa Decosse, of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles

I cut the snowflake card shape out on my Silhouette Cameo, finding the file in the Silhouette Design Store.  Design paper is from Echo Park.  The sparkly ribbon on this card is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Prosperity -- how do you define it?  For me, a walk on a Winter day, with my husband on one side, and my wonderful dog on the other, catching snowflakes, is as rich as it gets.  May you find prosperity this year, my friends!

Amore

I had some time to play today, and I made a couple projects to enter in some challenges.  Ah, such fun!

All Dressed Up (Love those images) has an Anything Goes challenge on their blog, and a Pink challenge in their Facebook group.  I made this to qualify for both challenges:

The image, Amore, can be found in the All Dressed UP Etsy shop.  I colored her with Copic markers and some Wink of Stella markers.    Designer papers on this card are also from All Dressed Up Stamps.

The card was created using various Spellbinders dies.  I also used a Lawn Fawn die for the glitter heart.

All Dressed Up is having a DT call.  I have been wanting on their DT for quite awhile now, but was too busy in the past.  I'm going to try for this one.  Did I mention how much I LOVE Wendy's images?  And papers?

I've been participating in Gerda Steiner's monthly progressive challenge for quite a few months now.  Her images are always charming and fun.  Since I'm needing some Valentine treat bags, this one worked well for that theme:

I used a Lifestyle Crafts circle die and a Lawn Fawn heart die on this.  The treat bag was cut out on my Silhouette with a design I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  The designer paper is more of the papers from All Dressed Up -- pink.

This Gerda Steiner digi, Love you Kitten, was colored with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils.

Two more Valentine projects ready to go.  Such a fun way to spend a cold Winter afternoon!

Dogs Leave Pawprints In Our Hearts -- for Great Impressions

It's Saturday, and I'm posting for Great Impressions Stamps blog.  I poured my heart into today's piece of art.  My good friend recently lost her 15 year old Golden Retriever.  I've been wanting to come up with a remembrance piece to give her.  I wanted it to be sweet, but not too sad.  Here's it is:

I used Great Impressions rubber stamp Valentine Sparky (F600), and colored the stamped image with Copic markers.  The sentiment is a combination of computer generating and brads from Eyelet Outlet

The frame is a lot of layered pieces.  It is an SVG cutting file from My Scrap Chick. The designer paper is from Echo Park - Bark Collection.  Ribbon is 3 Girl JAM. Flowers are also Eyelet Outlet

My friend is getting her piece of artwork tomorrow.  I hope she likes it.  I sure enjoyed creating it for her!

Dying to be Your Valentine & BLANK! New Releases at Oddball Art

It's January 15th, and that means the Oddball Art New Release team is showcasing some of Lizzy Love's new work.  She has 5 new digi stamps releasing today.  Woohoo!  I found time to work with 2 of them, but would love have used more.  They are all wonderful!

Here's what I have for you today.
First, using image #279, Long Day:

I colored image #279 with Copic markers.  The hair was VERY fun!  She seemed to fit well on a tag, so that's the direction I went.  You get to fill in the blank on this one.  "Sometime you feel like a blunt..."

I Created the tag using dies from Paper Wishes.  Papers and fibers are from Close To My Heart.

The second new release, a card, is more in keeping with the season.  This is #280, Love Sick Heidi:

I colored image #280, Love Sick Heidi, with Copic markers.  I cut the black heart frame out on my Silhouette Cameo with a cut file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  Papers for this card are from Close To My Heart.

Check out what the other designers have done with the new releases on the Oddball Art Designs blog here.  They will also be posted in the Oddball Art Facebook Group

Won't You be Mine? for Oddball Art

It's January 15, and time for a new challenge to start at Oddball Art Challenge blog.  The theme, for the next month is, "All You Need is Love".  Can you hear The Beatles singing that song?  Since Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and I try to make a Valentine Card for all the residents in the nursing home where I work, I went with a Valentine theme for this one:

I used Oddball Art Stamp Co image #136, Valentine Giraffe on this card.  I colored image #136 with Copic markers, and used a Spellbinders die to cut it out.

The card base was created on my Silhouette Cameo, using a cutting file found in the Silhouette Design Store. All card stock is from Close To My Heart.  The heart bling is from my stash.

I hope you find time to join us at Oddball Art Stamps challenge blog the next month for our "All You Need it Love" Challenge.  There's great prizes to win! Join us, too, at our Oddball Art Stamps Facebook Group.  I'd love to see you there!

Don't Be in Such a Flurry -- for Crafty Sentiments

Happy Tuesday!  It's time for a new challenge on the Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog.   Since it's -18 degrees F. here this morning, this week's theme is perfect -- "Baby, it's cold outside".  Yes, it IS!

I'm not sure I'll be making any snow angels today, but I know my Golden Retriever, Sophie will.  She doesn't care how cold it is.  If there's snow, she's rolling.  This card is in her honor.

I made this card using rubber stamp Snow Angel, found in the Crafty Sentiments Design Store.  I colored Snow Angel with Copic markers, then fussy cut the image. The sentiment is from Joy's Life Stamps.  The card was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo, and was found in the Silhouette Design Store.  I made the snowflakes using the new Minc machine I got for Christmas -- it's great fun!  Designer paper is from Fancy Pants.

I hope you join us this week for our "Baby, it's cold outside" challenge at Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog.  When it's cold out, stay in -- and make cards!

Birthday Wishes - and a Tutorial -- for Digi Choosday

It's Tuesday, and that means Digi Choosday, with the awesome 24 hour digi code -- take advantage of this! Our theme for the next 2 weeks is Winter Blues.  It's also my turn to share a short tutorial with you.
First, the finished card:

This awesome digi is from the Twiggy & Toots Collection, found here in CD and here in Digital Download.  Just the strawberry cupcake image can be found here. I colored the cupcake image using Copic markers.  The cool blue background paper is from the Frosted Winter Octavia Collection (CD or Download). Then, the fun begins.  To make your own rainbow ribbon, follow these easy instructions:

Gather your supplies.  This technique can be done with a varieties of white ribbons.  I've used either inks or alcohol markers.  For this ribbon I wanted a "soft" look, so I chose distress inks.

Alternating every inch or so, ink your ribbon.  I cut 13 inches of ribbon for this card.  Here I am, getting started on it.

Here's the completed striped, multicolored ribbon --

One more view of the completed card, now that you know what to focus on:

The card shape was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo, using a Lori Whitlock cutting file.  The stars and circles were made with a Minc foil machine.

I hope you can join us the next 2 weeks for our Winter Blues challenge!  Our CAS challenge at Digi Choosday goes on for one more week.  Plus, don't forget about the Digi Choosday Crafting Group on Facebook.

Friends Make Life Sweet

I have a treat bag to share today that I made for a color challenge I found at the Eyelet Outlet blog.  It is also one of 3 pieces I submitted for their design team call.  I love to add embellishments to projects, and they've got such great stuff!  I'm hopeful....

On to the treat bag:

The treat bag itself is from Close To My Heart.   I decorated it by using some die cuts -- from Paper Wishes, ribbon from 3 Girl JAM,   & a stamped sentiment from Joy's Life Stamps.  Everything is else from Eyelet Outlet -- cooking brads, cupcake, lips, and keyboard washi tape.

This is the color scheme I used for the treat bag:

This treat bag was filled with some yummy chocolates, and was delivered to a very sweet friend.  She loved it!
