Chirp Up! a New Release at MHKDesigns!

Woo hoo, Hoo!  This is a big day!  It's the start of New Release week at MHKDesigns, and it's my first post on this wonderful team!  See why I'm excited?!?  You'll find all of this month's new releases, plus digital papers and more in the MHKDesign's Etsy Shop

Today's New Release is Tweet Tweet, and it's so FUN!  Using one of the funky images and one of the sentiments in the set, I created this:

I don't often break out my fluorescent Copic markers, but I did for this bird.  I wanted it to be wild and wonderful. I wanted it to cheer up the recipient with it's brightness!

The birdhouse shaped card was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  The rhinestones are from my stash.

You'll want to visit the MHKDesigns blog to see what the rest of the uber talented design team did with this fun new release.  It will be definitely worth the trip!

Come back tomorrow for day 2 of the New Releases.  This is going to be so much fun!

Happy Birthday with Confidence -- for Path of Positivity

It's time for some mid-month inspiration on the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog.  This month's theme is 'confidence'.

We have 2 sponsors this month -- Ike's Art and Scribbles Designs.  For this challenge, I am working with a design from Ike's Art.

This birthday card uses an Ike's Art image called 'Blue Tit 1'.  Blue Tits are European birds, and I live in the US, so I had to do a bit of research to see what they look like.  This is my interpretation, colored with Copic markers.

Papers on this card are from Studio Calico.  I cut out the scalloped easel card on my Silhouette Cameo with a file from the Silhouette Design Store.  The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from Close To My Heart.

Confidence -- little birds have it.  They take on big birds with a vengeance, chasing them out of their territory, chasing them away from their young.  I also think it takes an incredible amount of confidence to step out of that nest for the first flight.  I've always been a great admirer of birds.

I hope you find time to join us this month at Path of Positivity Challenge Blog, where the theme is 'confidence'.  I'd love to see your take on the theme, and there are great prizes to win!

Spread Kindness -- for Oddball Art Challenge Blog

It's the 15th of the month, and that means we're starting a new challenge at Oddball Art Challenge Blog.  The theme this month is "For You Blue" (use something blue).  LOVE blue -- love this challenge!

I used image #317 - Fiona on this card.  I colored image #317 with Copic markers, then used 2 sizes of a Spellbinders die set to cut her out and back her.

The sentiment on this card is from Simon Says Stamp. Fiona seems deep in thought, like she may be thinking of ways to change the world. The sentiment seemed to fit her expression.

The 'For you, Blue' challenge will run from Aug 15 to Sept. 14.  I hope you'll join us!  If you need a fantastic Oddball Art image (or several) of your own to color up, use discount code DTJULIE10 to get 10% off of anything in the Oddball Art Etsy Store

Owl say Hello -- for Julia Spiri

I have a bit of mid-month inspiration today for the Julia Spiri Challenge Blog.   Our challenges go for a month.  The themes are Anything Goes with a twist.  If you choose to participate in this month's twist, it's 'Vintage'.

For today's card, I used the image 'Griselda with Owl' and colored her with Copic markers:

I fussy cut Griselda with Owl after coloring her.  The card base was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  Papers for this card are by Echo Park and Close To My Heart (card stock).  The peacock colored crinkle ribbon is from D.L. Art's Etsy Store.  The foil 'Hello' was purchased at Hobby Lobby.

I hope you join the Julia Spiri Anything Goes with optional Vintage Challenge this month.  You have plenty of time.  I'd love to see what you make, and we have great prizes!

Happy Birthday Tu Tu You! for Great Impressions Stamps

Happy Friday, fellow crafters!  Yea!  the weekend is almost here and I hope we all find some time for crafting! I'm posting today on the Great Impressions Stamps blog.

I'm taking a bit of a walk down memory lane today and sharing a card I made a few months ago using two of my favorite Great Impressions Stamps

I just love these flamingos and the sentiment that goes with them!  What recipient wouldn't smile getting this card?

I colored H268 - Tu Tu Flamingos with Copic markers. Thank goodness there are lots of shades of pink!

The flamingo background paper is a digital paper that I found at Pixel Scrapper.  I thought it was perfect for this card!  Dies are from Craftin' Desert Divas.

Are you playing along with the Great Impressions Anything Goes challenge this month?  I hope you join us!  There's great prizes to win, and I'd love to see what you make!

Don't forget to check out the Great Impressions Store for so many wonderful stamps -- there's something for every occasion and every taste!  If you make a project with Great Impressions Stamps, link it to the Customer Gallery for your chance to win free stamps!

Happy Birthday with Butterflies & Bows -- for Crafty Sentiments

It's Tuesday, and that means there's a new challenge starting at the Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog.  The theme this week is "Use a Die".  I have lots of dies in my crafty collection, so I had great fun with this one!

I used the rubber stamp, Isobel Thinking of Spring to create this:

I colored Isobel - Thinking of Spring with Copic markers, then used an oval die to cut her out.  The card base was made using a Spellbinders label die.  The "Happy birthday" sentiment was cut out with another die from the same label set.  The butterfly is a die from Paper Wishes.  I cut the sun out on my Silhouette Cameo using a sun file found in the Silhouette Design Store.  Designer papers on this card are from My Mind's Eye. The crinkle ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM.

I hope you can join us this week at Crafty Sentiments Designs for our "Use a Die" Challenge.  I'd love to see what you make, and we've got great prizes for you to win!

Swishing by to say "hi" -- for Imagine That! Digis by Kris

I have another opportunity today to guest design on the Imagine That! Digis by Kris blog.  I'm on my second month of my 3 month stint already.  I am having so much fun!

Kris has so many wonderful digis, with fun sentiments in the sets.  I really, really like her new mermaids, so I decided to color one up.  This is Mermaid Swimming, colored with Copic markers...

I fussy cut Mermaid Swimming, then thought she needed a shaped card to swish by on.  I found this seashell shaped card in the Silhouette Design Store and cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.  The blue designer paper is from Imagine That! Digis by Kris Rainy Day Fun Digi Papers.  It might not be what the paper was designed for, but I think it works well.  What do you think?

The sentiment is part of the Mermaid Swimming set.  I simply printed it and trimmed it.

The seashell and starfish embellishments are from Close To My Heart.

I hope you like this beautiful mermaid.  I had a great time coloring her and designing this card!
