Happy Birthday to Me -- Blog Candy for YOU!

It's July 6, and today is my 60th birthday.  When I was diagnosed with stage 4B non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at age 57, and given about a 15% chance of surviving, I never thought I'd see 58.  Now, I'm celebrating 60!  Every day is a gift, every year a cause for great celebration.   I have more than enough crafty supplies, so I want to share the wealth with you, my blog followers.  More on that in a bit.

Today, there is a new challenge starting at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.  It's an Anything Goes challenge, so you can link up absolutely anything you want this week.  Bugaboo Stamps has such a wonderful variety of images that you're bound to find something you can color up.  There's always yesterday's freebie.  Have you grabbed it yet?  Or Tuesday's wonderful New Release?  She's 1/2 off this week.

Since today is my birthday, I made a birthday card for today's Anything Goes Catch the Bug Challenge.  I used this Happy Birthday Chickie image to create this:

I colored the Happy Birthday Chickie with Copic markers, then used this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches to create the card.  Here's the sketch:

I used scalloped and stitched dies from Spellbinders to cut out the image and the papers.  Papers have been in my stash forever.  They are the Soiree collection from Pink Paislee.  Are they even still in business? The twine is from the same collection.  The balloon is a die from Paper Wishes.  The sentiment is a stamp from them, too.

Now, for the blog candy.  Please follow my blog.  For the month of July, if you comment on this post, you will be eligible.  Leave me a way to contact you.  I have over $60 of crafty goodies to send to a US winner.  I will use random.org to choose my winner.  If the winner is from elsewhere in the world, they will be able to pick a $15 gift certificate from an online store of their choice.

Blog candy -- Spellbinders dies, a Memory Box die, Close To My Heart stamps, Cricut vinyl and iron-on, Basic Grey 12x12 papers, 3 6x6 paper pads, bling and ribbons

So, that's it for this post!  Follow my blog, leave a comment, then head over to the Catch the Bug blog for the Anything Goes Challenge.  Ready, Set, party!

Take a look at this fun event, coming up in a couple weeks:

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
Tuesday morning Sketches -- Week #510
Crafty Animals -- ATG with an Animal
D.L. Art -- July Linky Party
Outlawz Festive Fridays -- birthday
Seize the Birthday -- cover the card
Crafty Sentiments Designs -- bright colors
Outlawz Twisted Thursday -- Yarn or string

  2. Wishing you a fantastic birthday, Julie! I knew about your cancer, but I didn't realize that the prognosis was 15% survival. You are a walking miracle! God has plans for you 💕

  4. Hello my friend. I'm popping over today to wish you a fabulous birthday. I'm with Beth--a bit floored right now as you never shared your survival rate. I mean, I know you had said it was bad, but you also said that the kind you had may be affected better by the treatment. Thank goodness it was. Walking miracle indeed! This world and myself especially are so fortunate that you are still here with us and you're correct, every single day any of us get is a gift that should never be taken for granted.

It is nice of YOU to be offering up gifts on your birthday. For today only I wish I was a US citizen. ;)

Anyway my dear I hope you are having a fabulous day and I wish you the absolute best for the year ahead.

    ♥Lisa

  5. Happy birthday Julie! My hubby also has non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and has been beating the odds for 10 years now (he wasn't supposed to see his next birthday either). Every day truly is a gift. I agree with the other comments that God has plans for you (and for my hubby) :-) You've created a wonderful card to help with the celebration.

  6. I love your generous heart. You are having the birthday but are giving your followers the chance to win a gift. Count me in. [And if Mr Random draws my name, I'll treat you to coffee when we meet up so that I can get the goodies. And... if I don't win, let's still plan a coffee date.]

  8. Julie, Happy Birthday!!! You are so awesome. I remember when you were diagnosed and I was so worried about you and your treatments. So have been such a trooper and have such determination. Statistics are just that, and I would always tell patients that. You are either going to do well or not so that is 100% or 0. You have a strong faith and I know that helps and I do believe that does help too. Whatever you doing - keep it up!!! Julie I not looking for a prize I would rather have a play date with you sometime.

  16. Hia Julie,
Oh, im sorry, I didnt realise that you were 60 (I would have done something special with my Birthday wishes post), and also for not realising that youd been through such a horrible killer disease. My mum died of cancer aged just 54 so Im so glad that I will be 58 next month, Even though im disabled with several really painful issues, im so pleased to know that Ive not got cancer so I feel for you.
Your birthday card is so cute and I love Bugaboo images and have been collecting them for some years now.... and still Jodie keeps surprising me.
Anyway, Thank you for the chance to win your fabulous candy. I live in a town just halfway between the beauiful the town of Cannock (which is the town named the same area of outstanding natural beauty called Cannock Chase) and the gorgeous city of Lichfield In Staffordshire, England. If I win I would love you to donate my prize to a Cancer charity in your area...
Love always and keep up your fabulous colouring & imagination when it comes to arranging how a card/project should be layed out.

I will recuse myself as I have so many supplies I will never be able to use them all. But I know your lucky winner will love getting a prize!! Your card is adorable. I just commented on it at the Outlawz Festive Friday's Challenge. I love the bright colors and the happy Chickie just gave me a big big smile!!
