Sea You Soon -- For Dies R Us Challenges

August 1 --the months keep flying by!  August 1 means there is a new challenge starting on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  This month, the theme is Summer.  Yea, that's a fun theme! Make sure to use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store, follow the theme, and you're all set!

I love lighthouses, and kayaking to my favorite ones in the Apostle Islands.  When I think of summer, I think of kayaking trips on Lake Superior.  Those were my thought when I created this card:

The lighthouse scene die is from Hero Arts.  It's called Looking Glass Lighthouse. I colored it with Copic markers. I also used the Hero Arts Looking Glass Circle & Square Frames die. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts  Seas the Day clear stamp set.  I cut the sentiment out with Pink & Main Large Sentiment Strip Dies. The card is finished off with some Unicorn Pearls -- also from Pink & Main.

It's been nearly a month since I fractured my knee.  I had this card made before it happened.  I This will be my last post until I'm allowed to put weight on my knee.  I can't navigate stairs, and my craft room is in the basement.  It's looking like a couple more months of being in a wheelchair, and I'll hopefully be ready to walk again!

I hope you can join us this month for the Anything Goes Challenges. Enjoy the summer!

Balloon Bouquet -- For Dies R Us Challenges

July 15-- and it's the start of a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.   The theme is Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

We card makers make a lot of cards in a year, but I think the one I make the most of is birthday cards.  I'm always needing one!  So, for today's challenge, I have -- you guessed it!- a birthday card:

I made this card for my 33 year nephew.  Even at his age, all he wants is the $ inside!  But, I still like him to know he's loved, so a handmade card he gets!

This uses a die from Crafter's Companion called 'Balloon Bouquet'.  It's a great paper piecing die!

The sentiment and die cut are from Hero Arts.  It's part of a set called Sentiments XL. I embossed it with navy blue embossing powder by Nuvo.  The sequins are also by Nuvo.

I broke my knee last week, and I need to get it elevated and use some ice.  So, this post is short!  I do hope you can join us these next 2 weeks at Dies R Us Challenges.

I love butterflies!  I like big, bold, make an impact on a card butterflies!  I think this Pink & Main 3-part die does just that:

This card uses the Bold Butterfly Panels A, B, and C from Pink & Main.  They are sized to perfectly fit an A2 sized card.  The card also uses a Hero Arts stamp and die set called Sentiments XL.

I hope you join us the Dies R Us challenge!  Remember, it's anything goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I needed several Graduation cards recently, and this is what I created for one of them:

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Dads/Masculine challenge.  Just remember to use a brand of die found in the Dies R Us Store.  For Canadian friends, there is the Didi Crafts Store.  It offers a wonderful selection of craft products and reasonable shipping rates.

Southwestern Scene -- for Dies R Us Challenges

Good day, Friends!  It's June 1 (already), and it's time for a new challenge on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog The challenge will run until June 14, with a new challenge starting on June 15.  This month's theme is Dads/Masculine.  Use any brand of die in the Dies R Us Store, follow the theme, and link up with us!

Sadly, I no longer need to make Father's Day cards, so I used the masculine option instead:

This card uses a Spellbinders die set called Colorblock Landscape.  I combined it with a sun ray background die from Lawn Fawn. The sentiment and die that cut it out are from the Hero Arts set Message Strips Stamp & Die XL.  The embossing powder I used was the Nuvo Fine Detail -- Copper Blush.

Je T'aime -- for Dies R Us Challenges

Hello, hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Are you enjoying May?  I think it's my favorite month of the year, but it's going way too fast!  In fact, we're 1/2 way through the month already.  May 15 -- not only is it the 1/2 way point for this beautiful month, it's also time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  This month, the challenges are anything goes!  Just use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store.

I've had this set of dies for years, but have never used them.  I decided it was time!  Visiting Paris is on my bucket list, and I'd love to get there sooner than later.  We'll see.  In the meantime, I'll dream of traveling again, and make pretty cards:

This couple are enjoying the sights of Paris, while also enjoying each other's company and their very French dog.  What's more French than a French Poodle, after all? You could argue it should be a French Bulldog on the card, but a poodle die is what I have.

I made this card with dies from Crafter's Companion and Impression Obsession.  Both companies dies are available at the Dies R Us Store. The Paris dies from Crafter's Companion are part of the Parisian Collection.  They are the Je T'aime die set (couple on the bench and the poodle).  The Eiffel Tower is a die called "Purely Paris".  I used 2 products from Impression Obsession dies. The grass is 'Small Grass Border', cut twice and layered. The heart that I used for the sentiment is part of the Layered Hearts Trio die set.

I found the most appropriate papers for this card at We Are 3 Digital Shop. I used 2 papers from the Paris Cafe Collection. The sentiment is also from We Are 3 Digital Shop. It is part of the Heart Love sentiments set.

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for the Anything Goes Challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog. There will be a gift certificate to the store awarded to one lucky winner, and 3 designer choice awards.

If you are one of our Canadian friends, check out the Didi Crafts Store for a great selection of crafty supplies and reasonable shipping rates.

Butterfly Sympathy Card -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the first of May, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. For the month of May, the challenges are "Anything Goes", as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

One of my  best friend's mothers died, and I needed to make a sympathy card.  I wanted it to be very special, because they were/are both such special ladies.  Here's what I created:

The butterflies are all from the same die set.  It is called Delicate Butterflies, by Spellbinders. I inked the base of the card and the wings of each butterfly with Tim Holtz Distress oxide ink in Picked Raspberry.   The gold 1/2 pearls are also from Spellbinders, and finish off the card.

I hope you can join the Anything Goes challenge this next 2 weeks on the Dies R Us Challenge blog. A gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store, and 3 designer choice awards will be given out.

If you live in Canada, check out Didi's Crafts for wonderful products and reasonable shipping.

Shaped Card for Mother's Day -- and for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the middle of April already!  Since it's the 15th, we're starting a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. It will run for 2 weeks. The theme all this month is "Flowers and/or Spring.

We are partnering with the Double Trouble Challenge Blog again this year and having a joint challenge collaboration.  It's fun and easy and you have a chance to win prizes both here on the DRU Challenge as well as the Double Trouble Challenge #108! The Double Trouble Challenge runs from April 18 - May 1 and their theme is "Frame It" - use a basic metal die in your project.

Here are the options to include if you want to join the Double Trouble challenge. You can enter the Double Trouble "Frame It" challenge #108 here.

Thing 1:  Trouble Maker (Double Trouble Challenge)
says, "How many of us have a Cricut or similar machine that sits idle?  Since the world of metal dies has emerged how often do you pull out your Cricut to cut a basic shape?  It seems most of us have accumulated some dies and now use a die cutter (Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Gemini).  I'm challenging you to select a basic-shaped metal die from your stash and use it on your project, e.g. frame, square, rectangle, triangle for your image and/or sentiment...  you get the idea.

You can stop here...
OR
play along with Twisted Sister's optional twist below to earn another chance in the Double Trouble random draw.

Thing 3:  Twisted Sister  (Double Trouble Challenge)
says, "It isn't difficult for me to pick out a shaped metal die for a frame and/or sentiment but I have accumulated so many other pretty metal dies.

"Mother's Day is around the corner... this is a good time to honor your Mom or someone special who has had an impact on your life.  My optional twist is to include flower(s) and/or butterfly(s) on your project. I'm going to use some of my pretty dies, however, if you don't have floral or butterfly dies, just use patterned paper, stenciling, or embossing.

Optional Twist:  If you have included flowers and/or butterflies on your project you will earn another chance in the Double Trouble Random Draw.

Thing 2: Double Dare (DRU Challenge)
says, "If you have included at least one metal die on your project you are eligible to enter at Dies R Us #191 HERE. There is a limit of three entries and make sure you post your entry on or before April 28th and you will be eligible for an extra Double Trouble random draw chance. The theme is Flowers/Spring.

AND...
If you have used any brand of dies that Dies R Us sells in their store, you will be eligible for an extra Double Trouble random draw chance as well as a chance to win the DRU $10 gift code prize.  Your die may already qualify. Click HERE to view the dies on their left-hand sidebar. Be sure to mention in your post if you used a die that is sold at DRU's store for a chance the DRU random draw.

SO basically the options for winning prizes are:
Thing 1: Use a basic shaped metal frame die to enter the Double Trouble challenge.
Thing 2: Use a metal die that DRU sells and include the theme Spring/Flowers to enter the DRU challenge and the random draw from Double Trouble.
Thing 3: Use a metal frame die and add a flower or butterfly to project for another entry to the Double Trouble challenge.

If you used a metal die to join our DRU Challenge and it's a basic frame shape, you have already completed all the requirements for both challenges.  If you've only used a die (but not a basic shape), you are still eligible for our DRU Challenge, but it won't qualify for the Double Trouble Challenge.

(remember, you MUST use at least one metal die to qualify for the DRU prize... and please tell us the die company you have used in your project.)

Here's the card for the challenge.  It is my mother-in-law's Mother's Day card:

Most of the dies on this card are by Spellbinders.  I used the Butterfly Card Creator for the base of the card.  The 2 smaller butterflies are part of the Delicate Butterflies Collection.  The flowers and leaves are from 2 different Spellbinders collections -- the Butterfly Card Creator and the Painted Blooms set.  For a basic shape to meet the Double Trouble challenge, I used a small square die for the "Mother's Day" phrase.  It is part of a Tonic Studios Tags & Labels set. The "Happy" is a die cut from Tutti Designs Word Die - Happy. Also available in the Dies R Us Store, and used on the butterfly base is Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink

I hope you can join in the challenges these next 2 weeks.  Enter them both for more of a chance to win!

Friendly Florals -- for Dies R Us Challenges

Here we are, galloping through the 2022 calendar year.  I can't believe it's April 1 already.  There's still ice on the lakes here, and the temperatures feel very much like winter, but spring is officially here.  I also know that it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges!  The challenge will run for 2 weeks, but the theme for the whole month of April is Flowers &/or Spring.  Follow that theme, use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store, and and link up!  It's that easy.

I am anxiously awaiting the first flower of spring where I live, but the growing season hasn't started yet.  There's still too much snow!  But, when I create a springtime card, I can dream, right?

I've jumped into the slimline trend with today's card. The featured die is from Spellbinders

The die is called Blossoming Slimline from Spellbinders Paper Arts.   It's a 2-part die.  You can either use it as a panel, like I did here, or cut it into your card front.  I wanted several shades of blue on the card, so opted for the panel option.  The "Hello Friend" sentiment clear stamp is also from Spellbinders. It's part of a stamp set called Essential Sentiments.  I embossed it with white embossing powder from Hero Arts.  It's available in the Dies R Us Store

Are you from Canada?  Then check out the Didi Crafts Store.  You'll find a wonderful array of craft products, and reasonable shipping rates.

I hope you can join us this Dies R Us challenge! Remember, the theme is Flowers &/or Spring.  They'll be a gift certificate given away to one lucky winner and 3 designer choice awards.

Hooray! It's Your Birthday! For Dies R Us Challenges

Hip, hip, hooray!  It's time for a birthday!  AND, it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  This month, the challenge is Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I have a good friend who celebrated her birthday a couple days ago.  I needed a card for the occasion, and she'd expect something handmade.  Here is what I sent her:

I started out by blending a white panel with Distress Inks.  I blended quite a few colors together to make it colorful and happy.  Then, I placed a Frantic Stamper card panel called, Hip Hip Hooray and cut it out of the Distress Inked panel.  Then, I pulled out some of the colors in the panel, and used papers that matched to die cut some Birthday Icons, also from Frantic Stamper. Then, all I needed was some happy looking background paper (from Crafter's Companion), and my card was ready to send.

The Dies R Us Challenge starts today and runs for 2 weeks.  A gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store will be awarded, plus 3 designer choice awards. I'd love to see your pretty creations!

Sweet Birthday Wishes -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's March 1, and although I'm not doing much creating these days, the months are still going too fast!  March 1 -- that means a new challenge is starting today on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. In March, the theme is "Anything Goes" -- just use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I have a young friend who is celebrating her 11th birthday in a couple days.  She & I have been pen pals since she was 8, and although we've never met, she is near and dear to me from all the letters and cards we've exchanged over the years.  She loves my homemade cards, so I wanted a special one for her birthday.  Here's what I created for her big day:

I love shaped cards, and hope she does, too!  I made this card using a Crafter's Companion Create-a-Card die set, Sweet Treats.  The stitched heart, with the sentiment on it, is from Lawn Fawn. It is one of the Just Stitching Hearts die set

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes (as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store) challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. One random winner will receive a gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store.  There are also 3 designer choice awards each challenge.

Forever Yours -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and I am hoping you had a lovely Valentine's Day.  I had to start the day at the dentist.  Not the most romantic way to get the day going, but it was nice to get my teeth cleaned.

It's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. The theme is Valentines/Love.  Use a die sold in the Dies R Us Store, follow the theme, and you are all set to link up.

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary, and this was the card I made him for the occasion:

I did both some inking and some paper piecing on this Create-a-Card die from Crafter's Companion.  It's called Forever Yours. I inked the trees, fence, flowers, and hearts using Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I paper pieced both outfits. I tied the swing to the tree using some jute twine from May Arts. Although you can't see it in the picture, there is a piece of clear acetate that I used for the card front.  The scene is glued to it to give it stability.

I hope you join us these next 2 weeks at Dies R Us Challenges for our Valentines/Love challenge.  Valentine's Day may be over, but we can always send some love around.

Scent with Love -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the first of the month, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  This month, the theme is Valentines/Love. Just use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store, use the theme, and you are good to go!

I picked up some of the recent new release from Lawn Fawn in the Dies R Us Store and thought I'd have a play. This card is for you, and it's scent with love!

I used elements from both the Scent with Love and Scent with Love Add On. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored them with Copic markers, them used the matching Lawn Fawn dies to cut them out.  I cut out the giant XOXO twice.   It is also a new release from Lawn Fawn. I placed all this in front of a nested stitched heart die from Tutti Designs.

The background paper is by AMB Illustrations. I thought it fit the card very well, with it's small hearts and "stitched" appearance.

I hope you join us this next two week's for our Valentine's/Love challenge.  There will be a gift certificate awarded and 3 designer choice awards.

For our friends in Canada, check our Didi Crafts. They have a great selection of crafting supplies and reasonable shipping rates!

Time to Dream -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and a new challenge is starting over on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. It's an Anything Goes theme this month, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store, so very easy to join in the fun!

I don't like new year's resolutions, but I do like goals.  January is generally a quieter month, with more days spent entirely inside because of the bitter cold weather (its -5 degrees Fahrenheit, with a windchill of -23 right now). I just converted the temperature, and that's -20.6 degrees Celsius, so cold on any thermometer! Anyway, I find January to be a good month to reevaluate and set new goals, its a time to dream about the year to come....

I started out by inking my background.  I used Distress Inks in shades of Dusty Concord, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, and Villainous Potion. I made the moon by first inking with the lightest shade (Shaded Lilac), then cutting out a circle from acetate with the Jeanine's Art Landscape Circle dies.  I then used darker colors around this circle and removed it.

The rest of the card was created with a Create-a-Card die from Crafter's Companion. It's called Garden Retreat. I created the sentiment by using the negative space of the cutting die.

I finished the card by adhering it to a black panel and adding some gems from my stash.

I hope you join our Anything Goes, with a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  It will run for 2 weeks.

For my Canadian friends, check out the Didi Crafts Store for a wonderful selection of products and reasonable shipping costs.

New Year's Resolution -- Whatever the Weather, Enjoy it!

Happy 2022, my blog friends!  I really don't make new year's resolutions, but it seems like a good idea to try to be more like my dog this year.  No matter what the weather is, he just enjoys it!  Since he and I are outdoors for hours everyday, I might as well adapt his philosophy!  As my boy Winter would say, "Whatever the weather, whatever!"

Today isn't just the start of a new year, it's also the start of a new month, which means it's the start of a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  Challenges will be a little different this year.  Every other month, they will be Anything Goes, and then the next month, there will be a theme.  We're starting out the year with a month of Anything goes to ease us into the changes.

Snowmen have the right idea about winter -- just enjoy the snow while it lasts.  So, to go along with my new philosophy, I created a snowman card for today's challenge....

I started by inking my background with Distress Oxide inks in Victorian Velvet, Villainous Potion, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, Spun Sugar, and Kitsch Flamingo. Then, I constructed the snowman.  It is a die set by Karen Burniston. Then, I created the snowbanks, using Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside border dies. The inked background and pink layer were cut out with Memory Box Wrapped Stitched Rectangles.  The "Let it Snow" sentiment is by Crafter's Companion

The pretty snowflake paper on the base of the card is by We Are 3 Digital Shop.  It is one of the Winter papers

I added some snowflakes on my inked background with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen. I used a Viva Decor Anthracite Pearl Pen on the eyes and mouth. I piece of ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon tied like a scarf finishes off the the card.

I hope you join in on our Anything Goes challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. It will run for 2 weeks.  I'd love to see what you create!

Spinning Yappy Birthday -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's December 15th, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store.  There are many different brands of die sold, so this is very easy to do!

My husband celebrated his birthday recently.  I always make a card for him from the dog.  This is that card...

I had the dog wrapped tightly so that when he pulled it out of the envelope, it 'spun'.  I swear he enjoys the cards from the dog more than the card from me.  Ah well, he probably enjoys the dog more than me, too! :)

I created this card with a die from Crafter's Companion called Twirling Dog.  It comes with stamps and dies of the dog, the bone, the ball, and it also cuts out the dog house shape.

I colored all the elements with Copic markers. The sentiment was computer generated, then cut out with a die from Tonic Studios

I inked the edges of the card with Wilted Violet Distress Ink. A tiny bit of Timeless Twine made the Twirling Dog complete.

I hope you can join us these next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes Challenge at Dies R Us. A gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store will be awarded, and 3 Designer Choice awards, too.

Poinsettia Gift Tag -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's December 1! My Christmas cards are made, and now I'm making some gifts, ornaments, and gift tags.  December 1 -- time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Our challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store.  There's a lot of goodness sold in that store!  If you haven't taken time to explore, check out the Dies R Us treasures.  You'll be glad you did!

For my project for today's Dies R Us Challenge, I made a tag.  I'll be adding it to a Christmas gift before I know it!

The tag itself uses a die from Marianne Designs. I purchased it during a European dies event at Dies R Us. I cut it out 3 times with some papers from Crafter's Companion called Winter Poinsettia.

The sentiment is a die cut from Crafter's Companion. It is one of 5 phrases in a Christmas set.

The poinsettias are a die from Poppy Stamps

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes challenge!  There will be a gift certificate awarded to the Dies R Us Store and 3 designer choice awards are given out each challenge.

It's November 15th, and although it's not even Thanksgiving, we card makers have been making Christmas cards for months now.  I'm taking advantage of the anything goes challenge at Dies R Us Challenges to get another Christmas card made.  The challenge is Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I have a collection of mangers, or creches, that I use to decorate my house at Christmas, so it's no wonder I am drawn to them in my crafting also.  I really like this Manger set by Spellbinders

The sentiment is from a set of Christmas sayings by Sizzix.  I inked the edges of the card with 2 Distress Inks -- Old Paper and Tea Dye.

The vintage looking paper with musical notes on it is from We Are 3 Digital Shop. It is from the Holiday Wishes Collection.

Dies R Us sells an incredible array of dies and supplies, so check out the store for all your crafty needs. I used a die set from Spellbinders to create the card. It's called Happy Fall. Everything was glued in place with The Best Glue Ever. I also used 3 colors of Tim Holtz Distress Ink that are found in the Dies R Us Store -- Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, & Gathered Twigs.

The designer papers on this card are by We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are 2 of the papers in the Apple Delight Collection.

It's October 15th, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. The challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store.  The challenge will run for 2 weeks.

A couple from my church recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.  They met at a Bible camp, that is very wooded.  I thought this die was perfect to make a die for their special day...

I created this card using a Crafter's Companion A Place To Remember Create-a-Card die. The sentiment is computer generated unto a stitched tag by Tonic Studios. The red stitched heart die is one of the Just Stitching Hearts die by Lawn Fawn

The background paper of the card is by We Are 3 Digital Shop. It is one of the Fairy Land papers

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  We give away a gift certificate and 3 designer choice awards every challenge.
