Summer Lovin' Blog Hop

I am so excited to share my project that I created for the hop:

I used the SVG Attic Vintage Nation set to create this 3D, summertime star.

This star is really big.  Each point used a 12x12 piece of cardstock. The star measures 16 inches from point to point.

Here's a close up of the banner and bow:

I inked the edges of the star with Tim Holtz Antique Silver Distress Stain.  Designer papers are Echo Park 12x12 Sweet Summertime. I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the star.

Card in a Box -- for Pinque Peacock

It's Friday! And a very special one for me.  This is my last day of full-time work.  I'm starting 3 weeks of vacation.  When I go back to work, it will be part-time.  After working 45-50 hour weeks the last 30 years of my life, I still can't believe that I'll be working 3 days a week.  I hope the plan works!

I'm posting today on the Pinque Peacock blog.  I have a delightful card in a box that was on my blog yesterday.  It's so cute, I'm showing it again today.

These card in a boxes are so popular right now, that I just had to try it.  This one is a file from The Cutting Cafe. And, it was very fun to make.

I have several views of the box.  Here's a straight on shot of it:

I made this card for my BFF.  We're both big dog lovers, so I used some Unity stamps that had a dog theme to them.

What makes this card-in-a-box different from others, though, is the Pinque Peacock 3/4 inch yellow fabric covered button.

I attached the fabric covered button  to the middle of a flower.  It matched the yellow of the DCWV paper perfectly, and added that extra little something. Beautiful!

This was my fist card-in-a-box, but it certainly won't be my last.  I loved creating this with my Silhouette.

I've Been Wanting to Try One of These!

Card in a box here, card in a box there.  I've been seeing these adorable card in a boxes everywhere.  Today, for The Cutting Cafe, I had a chance to make one.  And, they are as much fun as they look!

I have a few different views of my very first Card In a Box from The Cutting Cafe.

The fun part about these cards is they fold flat and fit in an envelope for mailing.  This is the large box.  The Card In a Box cutting file has two sizes and two envelopes that come with it.  There's also a Card in a Box Embellishment set that I used on the card.

I did some stamping on it, because I love to stamp.  The stamps are from Unity Stamp Company.  The set is called, "I Ruff You".  I plan to give this card to my BFF.  We're both huge dog lovers, so it needed to have a dog theme to it and these stamps were just what I needed for the card. These cards are so fun because they can be embellished many different ways.  Here's a closeup of the embellishments I added, all from the Cutting Cafe's Card in a Box Embellishment Set,

The pretty yellow button in the center of the flower is from Pinque Peacock.  It's a 3/4 inch fabric covered button.

I bought the papers at my LSS for $3.00!  They are a 6x6 stack from DCWV.  The box itself, cut on my Silhouette, is made from white Close To My Heart cardstock.

This may be my first card in a box, but it's definitely not my last.  You've got to try one of these!

Dance Like No One is Watching -- for DigiStamps4Joy

We're midway through our "Girly/Feminine" challenge, hosted by Jackie on the DigiStamps4Joy blog. That means it's time for team B to show some inspiration.  That's me!

Here's my "girly" card, using the DigiStamps4Joy digi, "Too Sassy"...

I used a sentiment from Bugaboo Stamps, designer paper from my stash, several Spellbinder dies, tie dye ribbon from 3 Girl JAM, and stickpins from Close To My Heart.  The sassy dancer is colored with Copic markers.

Hat's Off to the Grad! for SVG Attic

I've needed a bunch of Graduation cards this year, so I'm glad I found this super cute, really easy SVG file that I could make whenever I needed a card QUICK.  It's part of the SVG Attic kit, "Up for Grads".  I find out the school colors of the graduate, and can make the card to fit those colors.  

 Here it is in maroon and gold:

and here's a version in blue and red:

The inside has a place for a gift card, if you choose to cut it that way.  Very cool!

Celebrating Fathers

There's a new challenge that starts today on the Eureka Stamps blog.  The theme this week is "Father's Day". Having recently lost my father, I haven't been too excited about this holiday, but I do need a card for my father-in-law.  So, I used a couple great stamps from Eureka Stamps to create this:

I used Digi36003 (thank you Dad) for the sentiment and digi11903 (Stars & Ribbon frame) for the frame.  I colored the frame with Copic markers.  I used a scallop punch along the lower edge in a matching color, added some sequins from Bella Creationz, rounded a couple corners with my Corner Chomper, mounted it on some Kraft woodgrain paper from Studio Calico, and the card's a wrap!

A Googly-eyed Teddy Bear

I have the privilege of guest designing today, and joining the challenge at Fitztown Challenge blog.  The challenge that starts today has the theme, "googly eyes".  I LOVE google eyes, so I had a great time with this one!

The image is Fitztown Teddy 5, and it was VERY fun to color with Copic markers.  I used some colors that I know I'd never tried before. I wanted that adorable image to be the focal point. so I left the rest of the card simple. Do you see his googly eyes? Fun, aren't they?

I used Close To My Heart card stock and Olive Green Timeless Twine.
