Tis the Season for New Releases -- for Oddball Art

It's December 1, which means there are new releases in the Oddball Art's Etsy Store. I'm also part of the newly formed Oddball Art New Release design team, so you'll see creations from me every 1st and 15th of the month.

Today, there are 8 (yes eight!) new releases found in the Etsy Store.  You'll see fantastic creations of all 8 digis over on the Oddball Art blog

Here's what I created for today's new release:

This first card uses image #271 -- Mr Sweets, the Fox.  It is one stamp, that I chose to separate into 2 distinct images.  I used Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Pencils on the fox image, and fuzzy cut him.  The ornaments were colored with Copic markers.  The sentiment, papers, and fibers are from Close To My Heart.  The step card was cut out using a Sizzix die.   The shape behind the fox was cut with a Spellbinders die and embossed with a Close To My Heart embossing folder.

This second card, image #274 -- Tilly and Sprite - LOVE to be Reindeer, was mostly colored with Copic markers.   For the moon, I found a circle die (Spellbinders) the same size as the circle to use for a mask.  I then covered my colored Tilly and Sprite with a piece of scrap paper so I didn't get ink on them.  Using Tim Holtz Distress inks, I sponged the inside of the circle (the moon), until I got the color and shading I wanted.

The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company.

The rest of the card was created using Lifestyle Crafts circle dies in various sizes.  Designer paper is from October Afternoon.  Sequins are from JilliBean Soup.

If you need (and you know you do!) any of today's new releases (or anything else in the Oddball Art Co. Store, please use discount code DTJULIE10 for 10% off of anything!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Whatever the Weather

Woohoo! It's the weekend! Thanks for taking time out to visit my blog! I'm posting today on the Timeless Twine blog.  We're mixing it up this month, with the designers bringing you different themes.  I was lucky enough to get a "card" theme for today. However, to challenge myself, I tried a technique I've never used before.  First, the card:

Soft, subtle spring time colors.  Ah, just what I've been craving.  And, an umbrella! We still need snow shovels where I live -- we got 10 inches of snow yesterday!  Yeesh! But, back to the card.  I tried a new technique (for me), using the negative space from the diecut, and filling the space with 2 colors of Timeless Twine -- Aqua Blue and Cherry Red.
Here's a close up of the sentiment...

These new  Bella Creationz Spring colored sequins were the perfect finishing touch for this card. They come in Aqua, Pink, and Lime Green.

Papers used were a Jillibean Soup 6x6 pad, Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup.  The petite umbrella die is by Memory Box. The sentiment is by Unity Stamp Company.
I'll be back on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for more crafty inspiration.  I hope to see you then!
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

My First Card for DigiStamps4Joy

I'm getting my feet wet today, so to speak, and posting my first card for DigiStamps4Joy.  I've learned a lot from this experience already! I don't often use digi stamps, so this will be a wonderful growing experience for me.  I'm so pleased Margy had faith in me, and was willing to give me this wonderful opportunity!
There are 3 new digi stamps being released in the DigiStamps4Joy store today. I used the one called "Treasure Hunt" as the focal point of this card:

I colored the basket, bow, and eggs with Copic markers.  The "trail" is highlighted with  Aqua Delight Timeless Twine.  There's more twine 'intertwined' with the crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM -- in Ice Blue from the Hot & Cold Bundle.  The designer paper is by Pebbles (Family Ties), and there's some UmWow Studio arrow chipboard that I embossed using Ranger Gold Pearl embossing powder.  The sentiment is a stamp by Jillibean Soup.
I'll be back on Wednesday with another DS4J card.  I'm having so much fun!
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Allsorts Challenge Blog --  colors beginning with 'B' (there's plenty of blue in my card)
Sister Act Card Challenge -- Anything Goes
JustBCreative Crazy -- February Linky Party -- Anything Goes
Hiding In My Craftroom -- use your scraps (papers were left from another project)

I have a project to share with you that has lots of pictures, so bear with me.  It may make for a long post, but I think you'll like the end result. And, of course, there's a story. I seem to always have a story, LOL!  One of my dogs, Sophie, is terrified of thunderstorms.  My craft room is in the basement, and she seems to be the most relaxed there.  So, when it storms, we often craft.  Several Friday nights ago, it began storming around midnight.  I started working on this project for today's blog hop.  At 5 in the morning, it was still storming.  Wave after wave of thunderstorms came through all night.  I stayed up all night, and had this project just about complete when the thunder finally faded away. At 5:30, with Sophie snoring at my feet, I finally went to bed for a couple hours. And, what did I make on that all-night crop session?  A Fall banner.  Tell me what you think...

There's a lot to see on this banner, so I have pictures of the individual panels.  I'll tell you more of how I made it as I go along, too.
First, a close up of the top square of the banner.  Each of these 4x4 decorative squares is from a mini album that I took apart.  Close To My Heart used to make them.  They were called a Mix & Mingle album.  I love them for banners because some of the panels are acrylic and some are chipboard -- perfect for something like this!

I used a stamp from the Joy's Life stamp set "It's All Fall Puns" on the first panel, the "Give Thanks" sentiment.  The #4 and all the letters were cut out on my Cricut, using the Cricut Classic font cartridge.  The designer papers are from the Jillibean Soup Apple Cheddar Soup 6x6 paper pad. The white and cocoa cardstock are from Close To My Heart.

I used various Spellbinder dies to cut the shapes throughout the banner.  Here, you can see an acorn cut from a Tim Holtz die, painted with Creative Inspirations paint.  The leaves are from a cutting file from The Cutting Café using American Crafts Autumn cardstock.  The twine is from Trendy Twine, and can you see that jute string on all 4 corners?  That's the new jute string found in the 3 Girl JAM store.  It worked perfectly on this banner because of the wonderful Fall colors.  I used the Jute ribbon found in the 3 Girl JAM store at the top of the banner.

the "a" is decorated with more leaves from the Tim Holtz die. They've all been painted with various Creative Inspirations paints.

On this first "l", you can see another of the acrylic pieces that I used. There's some more Trendy Twine here, too, along with leaves cut from The Cutting Cafe's file and the Tim Holtz die.

This final "l" gives you a good look at the pretty jute string from 3 Girl JAM.
At the bottom of my banner, I used another Joy's Life stamp, from the same stamp set -- It's All Fall Puns.

That cute squirrel is cut from a die.  I didn't use my electronic cutter during the stormy night, so I stuck to metal dies as much as possible.  The Spellbinder ones were perfect for this project, as was this squirrel die from Cottage Cutz. I cut the squirrel out on white cardstock, but used TH distress inks to ink him up.  The eye was made with a Viva Décor Pearl pen.
I have one more view of the whole banner for you, since it was a few pictures back when you saw the whole thing.

In honor of today's hop, and the fun I had making it (it's been years since I've pulled an all-nighter!), I have some blog candy to give away.  I have some stamps, a 6x6 paper pad, some embellishments, and brads.  To be eligible to win, please follow my blog and leave a comment on this post.  I'll pick the winner with my Joy's Life post on Monday.
Now, off you go to the uber talented Dawn's blog. It's All Fall and all beautiful at http://dawnmercedes.blogspot.com.  Off you go!
