Hooray! It's Your Birthday! For Dies R Us Challenges

Hip, hip, hooray!  It's time for a birthday!  AND, it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  This month, the challenge is Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I have a good friend who celebrated her birthday a couple days ago.  I needed a card for the occasion, and she'd expect something handmade.  Here is what I sent her:

I started out by blending a white panel with Distress Inks.  I blended quite a few colors together to make it colorful and happy.  Then, I placed a Frantic Stamper card panel called, Hip Hip Hooray and cut it out of the Distress Inked panel.  Then, I pulled out some of the colors in the panel, and used papers that matched to die cut some Birthday Icons, also from Frantic Stamper. Then, all I needed was some happy looking background paper (from Crafter's Companion), and my card was ready to send.

The Dies R Us Challenge starts today and runs for 2 weeks.  A gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store will be awarded, plus 3 designer choice awards. I'd love to see your pretty creations!

Forever Yours -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and I am hoping you had a lovely Valentine's Day.  I had to start the day at the dentist.  Not the most romantic way to get the day going, but it was nice to get my teeth cleaned.

It's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. The theme is Valentines/Love.  Use a die sold in the Dies R Us Store, follow the theme, and you are all set to link up.

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary, and this was the card I made him for the occasion:

I did both some inking and some paper piecing on this Create-a-Card die from Crafter's Companion.  It's called Forever Yours. I inked the trees, fence, flowers, and hearts using Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I paper pieced both outfits. I tied the swing to the tree using some jute twine from May Arts. Although you can't see it in the picture, there is a piece of clear acetate that I used for the card front.  The scene is glued to it to give it stability.

I hope you join us these next 2 weeks at Dies R Us Challenges for our Valentines/Love challenge.  Valentine's Day may be over, but we can always send some love around.

Time to Dream -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and a new challenge is starting over on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. It's an Anything Goes theme this month, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store, so very easy to join in the fun!

I don't like new year's resolutions, but I do like goals.  January is generally a quieter month, with more days spent entirely inside because of the bitter cold weather (its -5 degrees Fahrenheit, with a windchill of -23 right now). I just converted the temperature, and that's -20.6 degrees Celsius, so cold on any thermometer! Anyway, I find January to be a good month to reevaluate and set new goals, its a time to dream about the year to come....

I started out by inking my background.  I used Distress Inks in shades of Dusty Concord, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, and Villainous Potion. I made the moon by first inking with the lightest shade (Shaded Lilac), then cutting out a circle from acetate with the Jeanine's Art Landscape Circle dies.  I then used darker colors around this circle and removed it.

The rest of the card was created with a Create-a-Card die from Crafter's Companion. It's called Garden Retreat. I created the sentiment by using the negative space of the cutting die.

I finished the card by adhering it to a black panel and adding some gems from my stash.

I hope you join our Anything Goes, with a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  It will run for 2 weeks.

For my Canadian friends, check out the Didi Crafts Store for a wonderful selection of products and reasonable shipping costs.

Spinning Yappy Birthday -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's December 15th, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store.  There are many different brands of die sold, so this is very easy to do!

My husband celebrated his birthday recently.  I always make a card for him from the dog.  This is that card...

I had the dog wrapped tightly so that when he pulled it out of the envelope, it 'spun'.  I swear he enjoys the cards from the dog more than the card from me.  Ah well, he probably enjoys the dog more than me, too! :)

I created this card with a die from Crafter's Companion called Twirling Dog.  It comes with stamps and dies of the dog, the bone, the ball, and it also cuts out the dog house shape.

I colored all the elements with Copic markers. The sentiment was computer generated, then cut out with a die from Tonic Studios

I inked the edges of the card with Wilted Violet Distress Ink. A tiny bit of Timeless Twine made the Twirling Dog complete.

I hope you can join us these next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes Challenge at Dies R Us. A gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store will be awarded, and 3 Designer Choice awards, too.

For our Canadian friends, visit the Didi Crafts Store for great selection and reasonable shipping rates!

A Sprinkling of Christmas Magic -- for All Dressed Up Stamps

It's December 1, and it's time for a new challenge in the All Dressed Up Stamps Facebook Group.  If you're still working on Christmas cards, time is running out!  And, if you're still working on Christmas projects, this month's theme is for you ''Let's Celebrate". You can make that into any celebration that you would like!

I took advantage of the "Let's Celebrate" theme to squeak in another Christmas card.  I've never had a chance to color up the delightful Christmas Tree Fairy.  So, this was the perfect excuse...

I colored Christmas Tree Fairy with Copic markers, then inked the piece with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in 4 different colors.  I have some new mini stitched slimline dies that I used to cut out the Christmas Tree Fairy image and to create the card.

Those pretty vintage papers are digital.  They are by We Are 3 digital Shop. They are 2 of the papers in the Victorian Christmas Collection

I used a piece of crinkle ribbon to finish the card.  You can find it at D.L. Art Store

Joyous Manger Scene --for Dies R Us Challenges

It's November 15th, and although it's not even Thanksgiving, we card makers have been making Christmas cards for months now.  I'm taking advantage of the anything goes challenge at Dies R Us Challenges to get another Christmas card made.  The challenge is Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I have a collection of mangers, or creches, that I use to decorate my house at Christmas, so it's no wonder I am drawn to them in my crafting also.  I really like this Manger set by Spellbinders

The sentiment is from a set of Christmas sayings by Sizzix.  I inked the edges of the card with 2 Distress Inks -- Old Paper and Tea Dye.

The vintage looking paper with musical notes on it is from We Are 3 Digital Shop. It is from the Holiday Wishes Collection.

I hope you are able to join us these next 2 weeks for the Anything Goes with a dies sold in the Dies R Us Store challenge.  There will be a gift certificate awarded and 3 designer choice awards.  I'd love to see your creations!

Apples for Fall-- and for Dies R Us Challenges

November 1!  It's the start of a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. The challenge will run  for the next 2 weeks, and it is Anything Goes, and long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store. Dies R Us sells an incredible array of dies and supplies, so check out the store for all your crafty needs. For those of you in Canada, there is Didi Crafts, an equally awesome Canadian version with very reasonable shipping rates.

We have been having an incredible Fall where I live.  The temperatures have been very mild, so I'm really enjoying the season.  I love many things about fall, but I especially enjoy the squash, pumpkins, and apples.  Apples were the inspiration behind today's card:

I used a die set from Spellbinders to create the card. It's called Happy Fall. Everything was glued in place with The Best Glue Ever. I also used 3 colors of Tim Holtz Distress Ink that are found in the Dies R Us Store -- Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, & Gathered Twigs.

The designer papers on this card are by We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are 2 of the papers in the Apple Delight Collection.

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for the Dies R Us Challenge. A gift certificate will be awarded and 3 designer choice awards.

In Sympathy

It's Labor Day today, and I can't figure out where the summer has gone.  Kids are back in school, we're fast losing daylight, and days are much cooler.  There are signs of autumn everywhere.  Life moves so fast!

I needed 2 sympathy cards last week.  Hard week, for sure!  I reverted to two of my go-to digital images to make them with.  They're from Eureka Stamps. They go together quickly because all it takes is a bit of ink and some pretty papers:

This uses ES-digi34502 (Tree Losing Leaves) and ES-digi4505 In Sympathy.

Here's a 2nd card using the same inking technique:

I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks and a few sequins by Close To My Heart.  The designer papers are by We Are 3 Digital Shop.  The first card uses the Howdy Autumn papers. The 2nd card uses the Paisley Texture papers

I'm entering these cards in the following challenges:

Summer Heron -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  The challenge will run for the next 2 weeks, and it's Anything Goes as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I live near a small lake.  There are Great Blue Herons and Green Herons on the lake everyday. I am often struck by how graceful these birds are.  They were the inspiration behind today's card...

I started with a Deco Swirl Frame die from Crafter's Companion, and built up from there.  I cut one layer of the die out with black, then another layer of the die out with a paper from We Are 3 Digital Shop's Canvas Scenes papers

The heron is a die from Poppy Stamps. It's called Graceful Heron.  I inked the embossed areas with some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I also used Old Paper Distress Ink around the edges of the card (another piece of Canvas Scenes papers).

If you are from Canada, Dies R Us has a sister store, Didi Crafts, with great products, prices, and shipping rates.  Check it out!

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes as long as you use a die sold in the Dies R Us Store Challenge.  There will be a gift certificate awarded, and 3 designer choice awards.

Life's Short -- for SheepSki Designs

The first of the month, and time for a new challenge at SheepSki Designs Challenge Blog. The challenge will run all month, and the theme is 'Let's be Cute'.  You'll find many images in the SheepSki Designs Etsy Shop that will work for the challenge, or you can use any image you would like.

Let's be cute -- I  really like the many gnomes in the SheepSki Designs Store, and decided to color up the darling Ryder.

I colored Ryder with Copic markers, cut it out with a set of dies from a company no longer in business (Top Dog Dies), and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress ink.  The leafy paper behind Ryder is from Crafter's companion, as is the green pearl card.  I computer generated the sentiment and cut it out and backed it with a die from Queen & Company.

I hope you can join us this month at SheepSki Designs Challenge Blog for our 'Make it Cute' Challenge.  I'd love to see what you create, and you could win awesome digis -- like this one!

Nautical Thanks -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  The challenge will run for the next 2 weeks.  It is Anything Goes!  Just use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store.  Easy, right?

I recently celebrated a birthday, and got some awesome gifts.  I needed some thank you cards to let those friends and family know their thoughtfulness was appreciated.  Since it's summer, I thought a nautical themed card would be appropriate:

The 'Thanks' word shaped die is by Crafter's Companion.  It cuts out the outline, then the letters (which are all connected).

I cut the letters out of a piece of Nautical paper from We Are 3 Digital Shop. I inked the edges with Colorbox Royal Blue Ink

Some of the ephemera were also cut out of Nautical paper, and were inked with Tim Holtz Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.   The sailboats are dies from Impression Obsession. The other nautical ephemera is by Crafter's Companion

I hope you can join us at Dies R Us Challenges these next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes challenge.  Remember, just use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

Happy Fall -- for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, so it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Each challenge runs for 2 weeks, and they each have a theme.  This time, the theme is "happy Fall, Y'all!"  Isn't that a fun one?!?!?  I love fall!  I love the colors, the geese passing over, the cooler temperatures, I even love what's coming next! (well, most of the time).

In honor of Fall, and today's Dies R Us Challenge, I created this:

I started with the circle, and built up from there.  It is one of the Fitted Circles by Elizabeth Craft. I cut the acorns out of white card stock, then inked them.  They are part of the Yvonne Creations Fabulous Fall Collections (no longer in stock).  The various leaves are also from the same set.  They are cut out of colored card stock.

I hope you can join us for our "Happy Fall, Y'all" challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Just use a die from a brand that is sold at Dies R Us Store, and you are good to go.  For those of you in Canada, check out the awesome Didi's Crafts Store for wonderful crafting supplies.

Best Wishes -- For Jan's Digi Stamps Challenges

Jan's Digi Stamps Challenges are now month-long challenges, so I'm posting today just to remind my blog readers of this change, and to get another fantastic new release image out on social media. I created today using the  beautiful set called Pansies for Mom.

This set is perfect for Mother's Day, but also many other occasions. I used a pre-colored image here, and inked around the edge of the die cut to bring it to life a bit more.  The Best Wishes sentiment comes with the set, but there are several others, including a Mother's Day sentiment.  There are also several more pre-colored individual pansies.

The die cut edger is from Crafter's Companion, as is the designer paper.  I used a Spellbinders stitched oval die to cut out the Pansies for Mom image and sentiment.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

You still have a few more days to join in on the Anything Goes Challenge at Jan's Digi Stamp Challenges.  I'd love to have you join  us! There is a random gift certificate for $10, and a gift certificate for someone using a JDS image

You Color My World -- For SheepSki Designs

It's March 1, and that means it's time for a new challenge on the SheepSki Designs Challenge Blog.  The challenge theme this time is "Die Cuts &/or punches" -- an easy theme to work with, don't you think?  I rarely use punches anymore, but oh, do I have dies!

I've been longing to try my hand at the SheepSki Designs image, Camouflage.  This isn't what I had originally set out to create, but this is where it ended up:

I used distress inks and brushes on the Camouflage image and background. The sentiment is computer generated.  The frame is a die cut and uses a paper from We Are 3 Digital Shop. The flowers use a die from Creative Expressions.  I used specialty papers from Tonic Studios that give them the felt-like look.  The pearls are from my stash.

I hope you can join us for the Dies &/or punches challenge at SheepSki Designs Challenge Blog.  It runs the month of March.

Winter Dreams --- for Lavinia World Challenges

Another Thursday, another Lavinia World Challenge.  I hope you are enjoying them as much as I am! I love the stamps and other products found in the Lavinia World Store, and I am in awe of the talent of those that link up for our challenges.

It is the heart of winter here in Northwest Wisconsin.  Some of our coldest nights happen in January.  This gorgeous wolf, Maka, is howling at the winter moon, perhaps dreaming of the warmer weather to come.  Or, maybe like me, Maka enjoys the winter months?

Lavinia Stamps have such beautiful impressions, and Maka is no exception. I just loved the way this stamped on to this heavily inked background.  Maka was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

The background was created with various Tim Holtz distress inks and Spectrum Noir Harmony ink pads (all water reactive).  The 'Dream' die cut is from Cottage Cutz, cut out of silver foil paper. The layered snow drifts were created free hand.

I hope you link up at this Lavinia World Challenge. There is one $15 gift certificate awarded each challenge and some Designer Choice awards.  You can also add your entries in the Anything Lavinia Facebook Group if you don't have a blog.  Join us there!

Ho Ho Ho for Lavinia World Challenges

A new challenge is underway at Lavinia World Challenge, where challenges are always anything goes, as long as you use an acrylic or rubber stamp (nothing digital).  There will be one $15 gift certificate awarded to a lucky winner!  It could be you! The challenge will run for the next 2 weeks.

I am trying to put a wrap on Christmas cards soon, so I made another one for today's challenge:

I started by using the Lavinia paper, Winter Chill for my card base. I then stamped the Moon stamp with Versafine Clair ink in Morning Mist.  I cut out a circle the same size as the moon in acetate, taping it down lightly to hold it in place.  I used several colors of distress inks around the moon to enhance the look of it.  Then, I stamped Christmas Night in Nocturne Versafine Clair Ink.  Lastly, I cut the sentiment with gold glitter card stock out of a Sue Wilson Craft Die.

Lavinia World products used on this card:

There is also a new, exciting FaceBook group to check out!  This is the second challenge now that Anything Lavinia Group also gives you an opportunity to post your projects.  so, if you don't blog, you can still enter our challenges.  Projects posted on the Anything Lavinia Group must include a Lavinia Stamp or paper. Wherever you decode to enter, challenges run for 2 weeks!  Have fun!

Wishing You the Best Year Yet! for Jan's Digis Stamps

Here we go!  Challenge #3 at Jan's Digi Stamps Challenges, or, as those of us that have followed her work affectionately refer to it as, JDS Designs Challenge Blog.  The challenges will be on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, so what a great way to start out your week! The will run until noon (Eastern) the Sunday before the new challenge.  You'll find all the rules on a tab at the JDS Designs Challenge Blog.  Her beautiful digis can be found in her shop here.

I've made lots of Christmas cards recently, so I took a break from them, and used one of Jan's beautiful sets to make a Happy New Year card.  You need a few of those, too, right?

This card uses the set New Year's Eve:

There are lots of elements in this set, but I chose a pre-colored image, and a sentiment.  After that, it was easy peasy to create my card.  Jan's pre-colored images are the best I've seen.  I couldn't color them better if I tried (so I didn't).  All I did was ink the edge of the oval frame with some distress ink to give it an aged look.  The sentiment is part of the New Year's Eve set.

The background paper is from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  It is one of the Loving Winter papers.   The die cut stars were cut out from dies by Spellbinders.

Please join us the next two weeks for Jan's Digi Designs Challenges.  They are truly Anything Goes!  From Cards, to tags, to crocheted pieces, anything you makes, link it up!

I also wanted to let you know about a Cyber Monday sale going on at Jan's Digi Designs. From now through Friday, December, 6, all stamps are 25% using code CyberJan.  There are nearly 100 awesome digi sets to take advantage of, so get shopping!

Fall Greetings -- for Di's Digi Designs Challenges

It's Saturday, and it's time for a new challenge at Di's Digi Designs Challenges.  For the next 2 weeks the theme is, The Colors of Autumn.

Di Carubia has some of the most darling images available for this and any theme is new shoppe, Di's Digi Stamps.

For today's  DT inspiration card, I used Henry's Windfall. It is available in both a black & white and a colored version.   This  is the black and white version.

I colored Henry's Windfall with Copic markers.  I cut it out with a die.  leaving the die in place, I inked around the edges with distress ink.

The "Fall Greetings"sentiment is from We Are 3 Digital Shop, as are the Autumn Woodland papers.

The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

'Tis the Season for Reindeer -- for Lavinia World Challenges

'Tis the season to start thinking seriously about making Christmas cards.  'Tis also time for a new challenge at Lavinia World Challenge Blog.  Challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a rubber or acrylic stamp (no digis).  There is a $15 gift certificate winner each challenge, and the design team chooses a few honorable mentions.  It's all great fun!

For this challenge, I made a Christmas card using a beautiful reindeer stamp.  It is one of the most realistic reindeer stamps I've ever seen!

I started by inking my background with distress inks and spritzed them with a light spray of water to make the "snow".  I let that dry very well.  In the meantime, I die cut the snow drifts and the Tis the Season sentiment.  Once I knew the background was good and dry, I stamped the Reindeer stamp (small)  onto the inked background.  I stamped the Reindeer with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.  All I had to do was glue the pieces of the card together and I was done!

I hope you join us at Lavinia World Challenges.  I'd love to see what you make, and you just might win that $15 gift certificate from the Lavinia World Store

Birthday Butterfly -- for Lavinia World Challenges

It's time for challenge #10 at Lavinia World Challenges!  These 2 weeks go so fast, but I don't lose my enthusiasm for these incredible Lavinia stamps and papers found in the Lavinia World Store

First, a few guidelines: Challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use an acrylic or rubber stamp.  Lavinia Stamps are not a requirement, however, we love to see them! You can win a prize of a gift certificate to the Lavinia World store, based in the US. There are also some Honorable Mention entries for each challenge.

I wanted to make a birthday card, with an Autumn color scheme.  Here's what I created for today's challenge:

I used the Lavinia Stamps, Zen Butterfly on this card.  I stamped it using Versafine Clair ink in Paradise, then heat set it using clear embossing powder.  I repeated this 3 times, making it so it looked like there were Zen Butterflies flying off the paper.  After I got the stamping and embossing done, I got busy inking.  I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress inks to achieve this effect.

A piece of designer paper, a "Happy Birthday" die, a card base, and the card was complete.

Join us this next 2 weeks at the Lavinia World Challenges.  Uses a Lavinia Stamp and you'll double your chances of winning the Designer's Choice Award, and the $15 gift certificate!
