Floral Hello -- for Dies R Us Challenges

 It's September 1st, somehow (I'm not sure how we've gotten to this point in the year), and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  As always, challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store. 

Flowers are still blooming, and the monarchs are starting their migration south.  They are the inspiration behind today's card for the Dies R Us Challenge:

I started out with a sunshine yellow card base, then cut out a Tutti Designs Multi Floral Background panel.  My original plan had been to use some distress inks on it, but once I cut it in white, I really liked it just the way it was.  The sentiment is by Poppystamps.  It is the Hello Poe Script.  I like that all the letters are connected.  I makes it easy to position it on the project.  The butterfly is by Sizzix, but there are many butterflies that would work equally as well in the Dies R Us Store.

Summer Heron -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  The challenge will run for the next 2 weeks, and it's Anything Goes as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store. 

I live near a small lake.  There are Great Blue Herons and Green Herons on the lake everyday. I am often struck by how graceful these birds are.  They were the inspiration behind today's card...

I started with a Deco Swirl Frame die from Crafter's Companion, and built up from there.  I cut one layer of the die out with black, then another layer of the die out with a paper from We Are 3 Digital Shop's Canvas Scenes papers. 

The heron is a die from Poppy Stamps. It's called Graceful Heron.  I inked the embossed areas with some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I also used Old Paper Distress Ink around the edges of the card (another piece of Canvas Scenes papers).

It's Hot Outside Challenge -- At Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, so it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Every 1st and 15th, a new challenge starts, with a new theme.  The theme for this challenge is "It's Hot Outside" (use hot colors -- reds, oranges, yellows).

I decided to take a different take on this challenge, and not go with the obvious summertime theme.  I stuck with red, orange, and yellow, but, well, you'll see...

I started out by inking my background with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin, and Squeezed Lemonade.  I let the background get good and dry before I went any further.  I've learned I easily get fingerprints!

The feathers are called Fluffy Feathers by Poppystamps, but this set by Impression Obsession are very similar, or this other set, also by Impression Obsession. 

The 'With Sympathy' sentiment is by Sue Wilson Designs. 

Lastly, a piece of twine from Timeless Twine finished off the card.
