Fly Away -- Guest Designing at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday

Today is a REALLY big day!  It is the last day of my work career.  After 33 years working at the nursing home here, another 3 years in other jobs before I took this one, I am retiring TODAY!  Starting tomorrow, I am RETIRED!  I never thought I'd actually get to this point in my career.  It's come earlier than planned due to health issues from cancer/chemo complications, but nonetheless, I am retired and ready to enjoy life!

Today is also a big day because I'm guest designing at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenges.  I love playing at The Outlawz, and when given the opportunity to guest design again this month, especially using my favorite All Dressed Up images, I said, "Yes, yes, yes!!"

Today's challenge is Anything Goes (no twist this week).  Here's what I created using Fly Away Butterfly:

I colored Fly Away Butterfly with Copic markers, then used 2 sizes of Spellbinders dies to cut her out.  The card base was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo 3 with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  The gold foil butterflies were also cut out on my Silhouette. The gold foil trim is from Close To My Heart.

The Anything Goes Thursday Challenge at The Outlawz goes all week.  I so hope you can join in the fun!  The Outlawz has both site wide and challenge prizes, depending on the challenges.

Love Bug -- for Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez

Hello, fellow stamp lovers!  I have been having such a good time coloring up and designing with the images of Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez.  This is my last post as part of my 3 month guest designer stint.  It has been such a joy!  I thank Patricia and her design team for having me.

Today, I have a card featuring Bee Sketch, and digital papers by Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, Red & Black Love Papers.

I used the Bee Sketch image, printed it twice, flipped one of the images, and matched them up side-by-side.  I colored them both as similar as I could using Copic markers, so they'd look like "love bees".  I used 2 of the papers from the Red & Black Love Papers digital set to create this card.

The sentiment is from a retired acrylic stamp set I have.  The shaped card was created with a set of Tattered Lace dies.  The black twine is from my stash.

I hope you check out the Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez store.  She has darling stamps -- both clear acrylic and digital.  She also has some digital papers, printable cards, Zazzle files, and freebies.  It's worth a snoop around for sure!  Check out her Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez blog, where many of her images are featured by herself and the design team.  You won't be disappointed! You'll find the Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez Facebook Group here, and there's a monthly Anything Goes challenge we'd love to have you participate in! This month's challenge is almost over, but a new one starts on June 1.

Be Brave -- a Tribute

It's Memorial Day, and I'm spending the day working at the nursing home.  The VFWA will be in in the afternoon, putting on a program, hoping us all remember those that have gone before, paving the way for the freedom we have today.  Our country is so blessed because of our forefathers!

I have a tribute of a slightly different kind today, featuring a stamp set from Craftin' Desert Divas.  I have a friend going through chemo for the 2nd time in 2 years.  I barely made it though once, so I don't know where she's getting the courage to go through it twice. I admire her so much!  This time around isn't easy, but she's 1/2 way through the treatments.  Prayers, friends, and family are helping her on her journey.

This card is for my friend:

I created the background by blending 3 colors of blue-ish Distress inks together.  I used Tumbled Glass toward the middle of the card, and Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon around the edges.  I used a Bubble stencil and Mermaid Lagoon to create the background design.

The sentiment was stamped with Memento ink and hit with a heat gun.   I stamped 2 sizes of fish from the Be Brave Stamp Set to create the card front.  Pixie Dust Sequins, also from Craftin' Desert Divas,  finish off the card.

I hope this card gives my friend strength &/or a smile!  There's so little I can do for her.  I like to show my love with cards.

Craftin' Desert Divas is having a design team call.  I'm using this card as one of my entries for the call.  Wish me luck!!

I'm planning on entering this card in the following challenges:

Friendship is the Sweetest Flower

It's Memorial Day weekend, and our 2nd 90 degree day of the summer.  Some summers, we can go all summer without hitting 90, so this is very unusual.  It could stay this hot for a few more days yet.  Yeesh!

I have a card I created today while staying cool in my air conditioned craft room.  I made it using Craftin' Desert Divas products and Tim Holtz distress inks -- some of my favorite products!

I'm going to send this to my best friend, who recently moved to Idaho.  What do you think?

I started by making the card base using 4 distress inks and blending them together.  I blended 2 greens - Mowed Lawn and Shabby Shutters (I shouldn't argue with the great Tim Holtz, but I don't think he's found the perfect green yet), then Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean.  After hitting them with a heat gun to dry, I stamped the delightful sentiment from the Craftin' Desert Divas stamp set, Friendship

I stamped the delightful hedgehog image from the Friendship stamp set on Xpress It paper, colored it with Copic markers, and fussy cut it.  I used a circle die from the Craftin' Desert Divas Stitched in Circles Die set.  The sun, colored with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink, is another circle die from the Stitched in Circles Die Set

The butterflies were on my desk and seemed to add the final touch I was looking for. Plus, I can now enter this in The Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge (use a butterfly)  :)

Craftin' Desert Divas is having a design team call, and I've decided to try my luck.  This card is one of my entries for the call.  Wish me luck!

Row, Row, Row Your Boat (gift box) a Father's Day Blog Hop for Simply Crafty SVGs

Welcome to my stop on the Simply Crafty SVG's Blog Hop.  You should have arrived from Janet Packer's blog

For my part of the blog hop, I've used the charming Fishing Boat Gift Box from Simply Crafty SVGs

Leave a comment on this blog (and please follow me).  I have a $5.00 gift certificate for the Simply Crafty SVGs store to give away to one lucky winner.  It will be chosen at random and announced on the  Simply Crafty SVGs

My dad loved to fish.  Sitting in a row boat, fishing, was one of the more relaxing things he could do on Father's Day -- or any day.  This project brought back many wonderful memories of fishing for hours with my dad.  He was my anchor.  I had him in mind when I computer generated this sentiment:

We had a red boat when I was a child, so I had to make a red fishing boat gift box.  It had wooden oars, a gray interior, and a black anchor.  The only thing it didn't have was fish trying to jump into the boat, although we often joked about it!

I hope you enjoyed my contribution to today's hop, now hop on off to Lena's blog for some more wonderful inspiration!

Just Walkin' in the Rain -- for QKR Stampede

Friiiiiii-day!  The last Friday of my working career!  It hardly seems possible that next Friday, June 1, I'll be retired.  Wow!

Friday also means it's time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede Challenge Blog, where the weekly challenges are always 'Anything Goes'.

I've been having fun with distress inks lately, and I used a rainbow of colors for the background of this card, using a sentiment from QKR Stampede called In the Rain (Q-digi13904):

I printed the In the Rain sentiment first, sizing it large, to be the focal point of the card.  Then, I got out my Tim Holtz Distress Inks and chose those that fit the colors of the rainbow (remember Roy G. Biv?)  I inked the entire 5.25 x 4 card front with the colors of the rainbow, then spritzed it lightly with water to form some raindrops on it.

The die used on this card is from Peachy Cheap, and is part of a set of spring dies that I purchased last year.

I had a great time getting inky and making this card!

I hope you are inspired to link up with us this week at QKR Stampede Challenge blog.  I love to see what everyone creates, and we have great digis you can win -- like this one!

Sending Warm Wishes -- for the Scrapbook Stamp Society

Warm wishes, fellow crafters!  I'm posting today on the Scrapbook Stamp society blog, where we are featuring the Fluffy My Besties all month.

Today, I'm showcasing Fluffy Frannie (image #10):

I colored Fluffy Frannie with Copic markers, using bright Springtime colors.  I wanted her hat to look like it was bursting with Springtime color!  Then, I had her send some warm springtime wishes your way, along with that fancy coffee she was drinking.

Charming, isn't she?  I love these Fluffy My Besties!  You can find them all in the Sherri Baldy My Besties Shop.

Friends Furever -- for Scribbles Designs

It's my day to share some DT inspiration on the Scribbles Designs blog. It's the "Monthly Scribbler's Showcase".  I have 2 cards to share for my portion of the showcase.  The first one uses #611 Birdhouse 6

I colored the Birdhouse with my neon Copic markers -- the ones I hardly ever have a chance to use.  I used a variety of dies to create the card, including the sentiment.

Here's the next card:

This uses #417 Dog Bone, colored with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils, and Puppy Power Papers Set.  The sentiment is from a retired Close To My Heart acrylic stamp set.  The circle card base is from a Tattered Lace die.  The other circle dies are from Close To My Heart.  There's a tiny bit of Timeless Twine on this cad to finish it off.

That's my inspiration for Scribbles Designs.  There are some awesome digital stamps and papers to be found there, so poke around on both the blog and the store and you'll like what you see!

Best Teacher - Ever! A New Release at All Dressed Up Stamps

I have a friend who is an incredible person, and one of the most gifted teachers I have ever met.  When I was given this image to use for the recent New Release at All Dressed Up Stamps, I was so excited!  I had to create a card for my good friend!

This is Best Teacher, colored with Copic markers.  I added her name to the middle of the desk.  The No 1 teacher is part of the stamp, Best Teacher.  My friend has blonde hair and glasses, so this image fits her so well.  She is a grade school music teacher, as you may have guessed from the way I embellished the card.

The sentiment is computer generated.  The easel card was created with a die from Crafter's Companion.  The music themed stickers are embellishments from Hot Off the Press.  The designer papers (digital) are from Imagine That Digistamp.

There are a number of wonderful new releases in the All Dressed Up Etsy Shop.  I hope you take time to check them out, then buy the ones you "have to have."  Color them up and enter the challenges found both in the All Dressed Up Facebook Group and on the All Dressed Up Challenge blog.  There's tons of examples with the New Releases in the ADU facebook group to inspire you, and on the All Dress Up blog too!  Check it all out!  You'll not be disappointed!

Be Brave -- for The Path of Positivity

It's time for some mid-challenge inspiration over on the Path of Positivity Challenge blog.  Our optional theme this month is "Choose your Favorite Color(s)".  Or, you can link up any inspirational project you'd like.

One of our sponsors this month is Luna Girl.  Luna Girl has a huge online treasury of vintage images.  You can find almost any vintage theme you can think of!

For this card, using my favorite color, pink, I used the Luna Girl digital collage sheet, Floral Labels, to create this:

I used one of the labels from the Floral Labels sheet, cropped it, then sized it to the size I wanted it.  The background was created on the card base itself, using 3 shades of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks.   The quote was found on a Unity Stamp set I own, but I  computer generated instead of stamping it to get it sized correctly.  The butterfly embellishment is from Art-C.

This time of year, when the spring flowers are in bloom in their soft pastel colors, I like pinks, aquas, lilac colors.  As the seasons change, so does my taste in colors.  Soon, I'll be craving summer brights, then fall earth tones.  For now, though, I'm reaching for pink often.

I hope you can still find time to link up with us over at The Path of Positivity Challenge Blog for our optional 'Choose your favorite Color(s)' challenge.  I'd love to see what you create, and we have some great sponsors this month!

Happy -- Outlawz Sketch, Dragon's Lair Progressive Freebie

Ah, the weekend, and just a tad bit of free time to boot!  Yesterday was busy with errands and family commitments, but today I found enough time to color up a couple images and create cards with them.  One was for a DT project, but this one was just for fun!

I used this week's sketch from The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge, and the darling ballerina is this month's progressive freebie at the Dragon's Lair Facebook Group.  The designer papers and bottle cap embellishment are also from the Dragon's Lair.  They are being entered in a challenge, too.

I colored the darling ballerina with Copic markers.  I wouldn't normally make her leotard that color, but I wanted to match the papers.  As it turns out, I like it.  I think she's rather striking with her green leotard!  Happy, I would say!

The doily behind her is from Cheery Lynn.  All the papers and the 'Happy' bottle cap are from The Dragon's Lair Designs Etsy store, or the free download. The ribbon is by May Arts.

Just like this little ballerina, making this card made me very happy!

No Better Friend -- for QKR Stampede Challenge Blog

It's Friday again!  Hurray!  The weather is finally warming up a bit here in the Northland, and I'm hoping for my first Harley ride this weekend.  Yeah!  A true sign of summer.

Friday -- that means it's time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede Challenge Blog.  Every challenge every week is Anything Goes!  That means you have no excuse but to join us!

This week, I have a darling image that made, I think, a delightful card.  This is Springtime Bunny (Q-digi16104):

I colored Springtime Bunny with Copic markers, then used a Crafter's Companion Create-a-Card die set to make the easel card.  The sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday stamp set.  6x6 papers are from my stash.

I really hope you can join us this week (and every week) at QKR Stampede Challenge Blog.  We've got the greatest digis (like this one) that you can win for prizes.  Who wouldn't want to color up this cutie?!?  Come join the fun!!!

Poof! You're 29! for Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a fairy godmother, where she could grant wishes like, "poof, you're 29 again?"  Well, maybe not 29, but 39 or even 49 sound good when I'm fast approaching 59!

This adorable Fairy Flying from Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez is granting birthday wishes today:

Fairy Flying is a digital stamp.  I made her quite large so she'd be the focal point of the card.  I colored Fairy Flying with Copic markers.  The potion paper behind her, that helped her cast her magic spell, is also from Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez.  It's the Science Digital paper pack

The sentiment on this card is from Whimsy Stamps.  If only it were true!  The crinkle ribbon is from a company that is out of business -- 3 Girl JAM.  The card stock is from my stash.  I used my We R Memory Keepers scalloped Corner Chomper on this card, and a Spellbinders die set.

I am in my 3rd month of guest designing for Kinda Cute by Patricia
Alvarez and it has been pure joy!  I am having so much fun with the wonderful images and papers.  Thanks to Patricia and her team for allowing me this experience!  There is a monthly Facebook Challenge to check out here, and an active blog with work from Patricia and the design team here.

Joyous Wishes -- for 12 Months of Christmas

It's May, and I'm already thinking Christmas.  I like getting cards made throughout the year, so it's not such a rush the last couple of months.  Today is also the mid-month inspiration at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up

This month's optional theme is "make it feminine".  Our sponsors are A Day for Daisies and Decosse's Dynamite Doodles

I used this super fun image from A Day for Daisies called Shopping with Scotty to create this:

I colored Shopping with Scotty with Copic markers, and used designer papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.  The two papers shown here are from the You Better Not Pout paper pack.

I used a sketch for this card that I found at The Outlawz.  It was the sketch from January 10, 2018.  I thought it would work well for what I had in mind.  The decorative brads are from Close To My Heart, but are retired.  The sentiment is also from Close To My Heart, and is also retired.

I hope you can join us this month at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up.  There's still plenty of time.  You can link up anything Christmas, but to be eligible for the prizes, please follow the optional theme.

I Feel so Blessed -- for DigiStamps4Joy

It's the 15th of the month, so it's time for some mid-month inspiration at DigiStamps4Joy.  This month's optional theme is 'For Mom', or you can link up an Anything Goes project.

I used the Daisy Moon (JA4) image, printed twice and flipped, and the Blessings Sentiment Set (MP298) to create this:

I colored the Daisy Moon image with Copic markers, mirroring my coloring on both sides of the artwork, then placing the Blessings sentiment in the middle.

I found these papers in my stash.  I don't know who makes them, but I thought they were a good match for the colors in the image.  I cut out the butterfly with a Sizzix die on gold foil paper.

I hope you find time to link up with us at DigiStamps4Joy, with our optional 'For Mom' theme.  I'd love to see what you create, and we've got great prizes!

Birthday Wishes -- Sasayaki Glitter Progressive Challenge

It's Saturday, and with a high temperature of only 55 degrees, I did some yard work today, some house work, but also found some time for crafting.  I finished this card I started last weekend, and plan to enter it in a few challenges:

The image is the May progressive Freebie image from Sasayaki Glitter. It's image #158, Mia Wants to Say Happy Birthday.  I colored it with Copic markers.

I used a sketch from this week's challenge at The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge

The papers on the card are from Photo Play.  The circle dies are from Craftin' Desert Divas.  The tag die and sentiment are from Paper Wishes.  These a teeny bit of Timeless Twine, and some glimmer trim from Close To My Heart.

Happy Mother's Day -- for QKR Stampede

It's Friii---daaaayyyyy!!!!!  Yes!   I'm retiring on May 31, so I suspect that soon Fridays won't have quite the same impact, but for now, I sure do look forward to them!

I also look forward to the start of a new challenge at QKR Stampede Challenge Blog.  The themes are always anything goes, so come link up this week!

Since this Sunday is Mother's Day, I saved my Mother-in-law's card to share until today, on the off chance that she remembers the name of my blog and is reading it.  I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise too much before she gets the card.

This card uses Flower Bouquet (Q-digi23803), colored with Copic markers.  I used some old Jillibean Soup papers on this card, some foil tape from Close To My Heart, a computer generated sentiment, and label dies from Spellbinders.  I'm hoping my Mother-in-law likes it, but at 83, she's getting hard to please!

I hope you can enter our challenge this week at QKR Stampede.  I'd love to see your creations, and we've got great digis you can win -- like this one!!!!

Dream Big! for Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez

Hello, fellow stamping friends.  I have the pleasure today of posting for Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, where her acrylic stamps and digital stamps are more than Kinda Cute!

Do you have dreams?  I often seem to dream, and I dream big!  So does this Baby Elephant!

I think she's dreaming of many things, including someday being as big and strong as her parents.  Isn't she cute?  I love the expression on her face!  So sweet!

I colored this Baby Elephant with Copic markers.  The designer papers on this card, also by Patricia Alvarez, are the Science digital papers. I think they would work well for many projects, including Baby Elephants with pink toenails!

The sentiment for this card was computer generated, and just fits this Baby Elephant and her dreams.

Hugs -- for Path of Positivity Challenge Blog

It's the first Monday of the month, so that means it's time for a new challenge at the Path of Positivity Challenge blog.  This month, our sponsors are SheepSki Designs and Lunagirl.

For this challenge, I worked with a gorgeous design, Flower Bouquet, from SheepSki Designs.  With it, I created this:

This month's challenge at The Path of Positivity Challenge blog give you the option to use your favorite color(s).  This time of year, I'm more into the pastel, soft colors, often leaning towards pinks and blues.  For this card, I stuck to a pink theme.  I love coloring on Kraft, and I like Kraft with bright colors.  It's a great contrast!  So, I have lots of favorite things going on with this card.

I colored the Flower Bouquet image with  Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils.  This Flower Bouquet was very enjoyable to color up!  Wouldn't it make a pretty Mother's Day card?

The sentiment is an acrylic stamp from Power Poppy.  The papers are from Close To My Heart.  The jute string is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I hope you can join us this month at The Path of Positivity Challenge Blog for our optional "Choose your favorite Color(s)" challenge.  Or, you can enter any positive themed project you'd like.

Fluttering by to say Hi! Guest Designing at Dutch My Besties!

I have the privilege of guest designing today on the My Besties Dutch Girls Challenge Blog.  I recently won a challenge there and was asked to guest design.  How fun!

The theme for the current challenge is Anything Goes with a My Besties image, with an optional Fancy Pants theme.  I used this cute Fancy Pants image to create this:

This is Fancy Pants Tickles Butterfly Kisses, colored with Copic markers.  I used 2 Spellbinders oval dies to cut her out and layer her up, then a butterfly die from Tattered Lace dies to make the border edge on the card.  The gold butterfly is a die from Paper Wishes.  The ribbon is from my stash.  The sentiment was computer generated.

And that's it for this little cutie!  I want to thank Dorothy and the entire Dutch My Besties team for the chance to guest design today. I had so much fun coloring up the great Fancy Pants Tickles Butterfly Kisses digi!

Don't Forget You're Beautiful -- Outlawz Progressive May Freebie

It's been a beautiful weekend, and I found a little time for crafting this afternoon.  I did a little coloring, including the May progressive freebie image from The Outlawz.  This month's free image is provided by Sandi's Samples. Here's what I created with it:

I colored the perfume bottle from Sandi's Samples with Copic markers, then used the sketch from this week's Outlawz Wednesday sketch challenge to create the card.

I used a couple of Spellbinders dies to cut out the image and back it.  The tag die was cut out with a Paper Wishes die.  The sentiment is from an MHKDesigns digital stamp set -- Beautiful Bottles.  A Darice embossing folder created the quilted looking pattern in the pink paper.  The rhinestone flourishes are by Close To My Heart.  A little Timeless Twine finishes off the card.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Enjoy! for Scrapbook Stamp Society

Hello, stamp lovers.  I'm posting today on the Scrapbook Stamp Society Blog.

I love the Fluffy Besties, and I'm so glad they are being showcased this month on the Scrapbook Stamp Society blog.  What fun!!

Today, I have Image #054, made into a card:

Isn't she wonderful?  She certainly seems to be enjoying that glass of wine, and life itself, for that matter!

I colored Image 054 with Copic markers, then found some papers and twine to match to create the card.  I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed creating it for you!

Hello, Spring -- for QKR Stampede

Hello, Friday!  Hello, Spring!  Since it's Friday, that means it's time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede Challenge blog, where it's always Anything Goes.

For this week's springtime card, I used one of a set of 4 blocks, called "Spring Set of 4" (ES-digi36303).

I colored one of the Spring Blocks with Copic markers, using lots of bright spring colors, then I cut around the block.  I used some silver tape from Close to My Heart and a "Hello" sentiment sticker from Paper Wishes on the card base, then used 3D foam tape on the back of the Spring Block to give it some definition.

And that's my card this week for the QKR Stampede Anything Goes Challenge.  What will you enter this week?  Please link up with us!

Puppy Spa -- Guest Designing at My Besties 3D and More

Woohoo!  I'm guest designing today on the My Besties 3D and More Challenge Blog.  I'm super excited for the honor!  I've made a lot of cards, done a lot of coloring, but today's 3D challenge was a new experience for me.  I have to say I had fun with it!

I used a card topper sheet called Puppy Spa Elements Card Toppers, found in the Sherri Baldy My Besties Shop to create this:

I printed the Puppy Spa Card Topper sheet, then started fussy cutting.  I cut, then used foam tape to layer up each layer.

Can you see the layers?

The pizza box was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo 3 with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store, using BoBunny Double Dot paper.

Here's a final shot of My Besties 3D project:

I want to thank Julie and the rest of the My Besties 3D and More design team for the chance to guest design today.  I had a great time trying out this new (for me) technique.  Thanks for the chance to learn something new.  I'll definitely be trying this again!
