Starry Skies -- For Dies R Us Challenges

Here we are, to the 15th of June already.  Summer is just about here on the calendar, and many of us are in summer mode now that schools are out, and graduation is over.

Dies R Us Challenges has a theme of Dads/Masculine this month.  Use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store, follow the theme, and you have until the end of the month to link up.

I needed several Graduation cards recently, and this is what I created for one of them:

I used the Starry Skies background die from Sizzix, and the You Did It dies from Frantic Stamper.  The yellow background was blended with inks from Hero Arts and Tim Holtz Oxide Distress inks

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Dads/Masculine challenge.  Just remember to use a brand of die found in the Dies R Us Store.  For Canadian friends, there is the Didi Crafts Store.  It offers a wonderful selection of craft products and reasonable shipping rates.

Butterfly Sympathy Card -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the first of May, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. For the month of May, the challenges are "Anything Goes", as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

One of my  best friend's mothers died, and I needed to make a sympathy card.  I wanted it to be very special, because they were/are both such special ladies.  Here's what I created:

The butterflies are all from the same die set.  It is called Delicate Butterflies, by Spellbinders. I inked the base of the card and the wings of each butterfly with Tim Holtz Distress oxide ink in Picked Raspberry.   The gold 1/2 pearls are also from Spellbinders, and finish off the card.

I hope you can join the Anything Goes challenge this next 2 weeks on the Dies R Us Challenge blog. A gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store, and 3 designer choice awards will be given out.

If you live in Canada, check out Didi's Crafts for wonderful products and reasonable shipping.

Shaped Card for Mother's Day -- and for Dies R Us Challenges

It's the middle of April already!  Since it's the 15th, we're starting a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. It will run for 2 weeks. The theme all this month is "Flowers and/or Spring.

We are partnering with the Double Trouble Challenge Blog again this year and having a joint challenge collaboration.  It's fun and easy and you have a chance to win prizes both here on the DRU Challenge as well as the Double Trouble Challenge #108! The Double Trouble Challenge runs from April 18 - May 1 and their theme is "Frame It" - use a basic metal die in your project.

Here are the options to include if you want to join the Double Trouble challenge. You can enter the Double Trouble "Frame It" challenge #108 here.

Thing 1:  Trouble Maker (Double Trouble Challenge)
says, "How many of us have a Cricut or similar machine that sits idle?  Since the world of metal dies has emerged how often do you pull out your Cricut to cut a basic shape?  It seems most of us have accumulated some dies and now use a die cutter (Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Gemini).  I'm challenging you to select a basic-shaped metal die from your stash and use it on your project, e.g. frame, square, rectangle, triangle for your image and/or sentiment...  you get the idea.

You can stop here...
OR
play along with Twisted Sister's optional twist below to earn another chance in the Double Trouble random draw.

Thing 3:  Twisted Sister  (Double Trouble Challenge)
says, "It isn't difficult for me to pick out a shaped metal die for a frame and/or sentiment but I have accumulated so many other pretty metal dies.

"Mother's Day is around the corner... this is a good time to honor your Mom or someone special who has had an impact on your life.  My optional twist is to include flower(s) and/or butterfly(s) on your project. I'm going to use some of my pretty dies, however, if you don't have floral or butterfly dies, just use patterned paper, stenciling, or embossing.

Optional Twist:  If you have included flowers and/or butterflies on your project you will earn another chance in the Double Trouble Random Draw.

Thing 2: Double Dare (DRU Challenge)
says, "If you have included at least one metal die on your project you are eligible to enter at Dies R Us #191 HERE. There is a limit of three entries and make sure you post your entry on or before April 28th and you will be eligible for an extra Double Trouble random draw chance. The theme is Flowers/Spring.

AND...
If you have used any brand of dies that Dies R Us sells in their store, you will be eligible for an extra Double Trouble random draw chance as well as a chance to win the DRU $10 gift code prize.  Your die may already qualify. Click HERE to view the dies on their left-hand sidebar. Be sure to mention in your post if you used a die that is sold at DRU's store for a chance the DRU random draw.

SO basically the options for winning prizes are:
Thing 1: Use a basic shaped metal frame die to enter the Double Trouble challenge.
Thing 2: Use a metal die that DRU sells and include the theme Spring/Flowers to enter the DRU challenge and the random draw from Double Trouble.
Thing 3: Use a metal frame die and add a flower or butterfly to project for another entry to the Double Trouble challenge.

If you used a metal die to join our DRU Challenge and it's a basic frame shape, you have already completed all the requirements for both challenges.  If you've only used a die (but not a basic shape), you are still eligible for our DRU Challenge, but it won't qualify for the Double Trouble Challenge.

(remember, you MUST use at least one metal die to qualify for the DRU prize... and please tell us the die company you have used in your project.)

Here's the card for the challenge.  It is my mother-in-law's Mother's Day card:

Most of the dies on this card are by Spellbinders.  I used the Butterfly Card Creator for the base of the card.  The 2 smaller butterflies are part of the Delicate Butterflies Collection.  The flowers and leaves are from 2 different Spellbinders collections -- the Butterfly Card Creator and the Painted Blooms set.  For a basic shape to meet the Double Trouble challenge, I used a small square die for the "Mother's Day" phrase.  It is part of a Tonic Studios Tags & Labels set. The "Happy" is a die cut from Tutti Designs Word Die - Happy. Also available in the Dies R Us Store, and used on the butterfly base is Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink

I hope you can join in the challenges these next 2 weeks.  Enter them both for more of a chance to win!

New Year's Resolution -- Whatever the Weather, Enjoy it!

Happy 2022, my blog friends!  I really don't make new year's resolutions, but it seems like a good idea to try to be more like my dog this year.  No matter what the weather is, he just enjoys it!  Since he and I are outdoors for hours everyday, I might as well adapt his philosophy!  As my boy Winter would say, "Whatever the weather, whatever!"

Today isn't just the start of a new year, it's also the start of a new month, which means it's the start of a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  Challenges will be a little different this year.  Every other month, they will be Anything Goes, and then the next month, there will be a theme.  We're starting out the year with a month of Anything goes to ease us into the changes.

Snowmen have the right idea about winter -- just enjoy the snow while it lasts.  So, to go along with my new philosophy, I created a snowman card for today's challenge....

I started by inking my background with Distress Oxide inks in Victorian Velvet, Villainous Potion, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, Spun Sugar, and Kitsch Flamingo. Then, I constructed the snowman.  It is a die set by Karen Burniston. Then, I created the snowbanks, using Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside border dies. The inked background and pink layer were cut out with Memory Box Wrapped Stitched Rectangles.  The "Let it Snow" sentiment is by Crafter's Companion

The pretty snowflake paper on the base of the card is by We Are 3 Digital Shop.  It is one of the Winter papers

I added some snowflakes on my inked background with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen. I used a Viva Decor Anthracite Pearl Pen on the eyes and mouth. I piece of ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon tied like a scarf finishes off the the card.

I hope you join in on our Anything Goes challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. It will run for 2 weeks.  I'd love to see what you create!

Hey Sunshine! For The Paper Shelter

It's Wednesday, and a new challenge begins today at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog. Today is the start of the Paper Shelter Summer Break Challenge.  The challenge will run for 4 weeks.  Both teams are participating, prizes are as wonderful as they always are, but the teams are taking a break from commenting.  But PLEASE!  Enter and have fun while we take a bit of a break.

There are so many adorable Summertime images in The Paper Shelter Store, and since this is the start of our Summer Break, I decided to color one of them up. This is Summer Attitude:

I colored Summer Attitude with Copic markers, then fussy cut that darling image out.  I used Distress Oxide inks and inked a background, hoping for sea, sky, and sun.

The palm tree is a die by Spellbinders.  I found the surfboard paper at PixelScrapper.com. The 'Hey Sunshine' is from an old card kit I had.

You have a month to join our Anything Goes Summer Break Challenge at The Paper Shelter. If you use an image from The Paper Shelter Store, and you're the winner of the challenge, you'll get a $30 gift certificate to The Paper Shelter Store.  Wow!  Use any other image, and you win any 3 images of your choice.  Still a great prize!

Fabulous & Feminine -- For The Paper Shelter

It's Wednesday, and that means there's a new challenge beginning today at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog.  Every Wednesday, a new challenge begins.  This week, team B brings you the challenge (me!) and the theme is 'Feminine'.  There are so, so, so many wonderful feminine images in The Paper Shelter Store, that you just have to take a look!  Find your favorite (or several), color it up, and enter it in our Feminine challenge this week.

When I was exploring The Paper Shelter Store, I found this Victorian lady.  I thought she was so elegant.  Definitely feminine!  I decided to create with The Lady...

I colored The Lady with Copic markers.  I used a stitched oval die to cut her out, and inked the edges with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink.

The papers on this card are by Crafter's Companion. So is the 'Fabulous' die.   I cut the card base out on my Silhouette Cameo 3, using a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  The piece of lace is from my stash.

I hope you join us this week at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog for our Feminine Challenge. If you're the lucky winner, and you used a Paper Shelter image, you'll win a $30 gift certificate to The Paper Shelter Store.  Wow!

Magical Moments -- for Dies R Us Challenges

Life is full of magical moments when you look for them!  I'm convinced of that!  The card I made for today's Dies R Us Challenges reflects that.

There is a new challenge that starts today over on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog and it will run for the next 2 weeks. All you need to do is use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store. Magically easy, right?

Are you a fan of Mary Poppins?  It was one of my favorite movies growing up, and I was so excited to see its remake a couple of years ago.  This die by Sizzix takes me right back to that movie.  It's called The Park.  I used a small portion of the dies in the set and created this...

The houses and tree on the base of the card are dies by Crafter's Companion.  The sentiment is from a clear stamp set from Molly Harrison called A Summer Day.  I stamped it on a label die by Crafter's Companion.  I used a variety of Distress Oxide Inks on the base of the card.

I hope you join our challenge these next 2 weeks at Dies R Us challenges. I'd love to see what magical creation you create!

Fabulous Peacock -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the first of June, and we're starting a new challenge today over on the Dies R Us Challenge Blog The challenge will run for the next 2 weeks, and it's Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I like birds, and I happen to think peacocks are magnificent when they have those feathers displayed, so when I found a 12x12 paper pad of peacock paper, AND a peacock die, well, I just couldn't resist the collection.

The Peacock die is by Crafter's Companion. The 'Fabulous' die is from Frantic Stamper. I used Dusty Concord Distress Oxide Ink around the edges of the card.

Fabulous!  A fabulous die, a fabulous set of papers, a fabulous store (Dies R Us), and of course, a fabulous challenge.  I hope you join us these next 2 weeks at Dies R Us Challenges!

I Miss Seeing You -- For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and that means it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Dies R Us Store

I've had this set of glasses dies by Impression Obsession for quite awhile, and I decided it was way past time that I did something creative with them. Here's what I made for this challenge:

I started out by inking my background with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Kitsch Flamingo, and Peacock Feathers (all found in the Dies R Us Store).  Then, I cut out various layers of the card with a set of Stitched Scroll Frame dies from Frantic Stamper.  The sentiment was computer generated, and cut out with the smallest of the Scroll Frame dies. Then, I used 3 of the glasses dies by Impression Obsession as focal points on the card.

I hope you join us this next 2 weeks at Dies R Us Challenges. You could be the lucky winner of a gift certificate, or one of the designer choice recipients.

If you are a Canadian crafter, check out the Didi Crafts Store for great products and excellent shipping rates!

Adventure Awaits -- An All Dressed Up Stamps New Release

Today is the 22nd of the month, and it's the day that I get to feature one of the New Release images at All Dressed Up Stamps.  There are 3 New Releases, so something for everyone!  I had the absolute joy of working with Little Camp for today's New Release:

I colored Little Camp with a combination of Copic and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  The sentiment is an acrylic stamp from Crafter's Companion.  The background paper is also from Crafter's companion.  The wonky stitched die is from Memory Box.  I used some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink around the edge of the image while still in the die.

You can find all 3 of this month's new releases and many adorable images in the All Dressed Up Stamps Etsy Shop

You can find more inspiration for the New Releases in the All Dressed Up Stamps Facebook Group, and on the All Dressed Up Stamps blog. Check out what the other awesome DT member have created!

Happy Easter! For Dies R Us Challenges

It's March 1 (already!), and that means it's the start of a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  The challenge will run for 12 weeks, with the next one beginning March 15.  They are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a die from a brand sold in the Dies R Us Store. They sell lots & lots of dies (plus stamps and others great supplies!) so this is very easy to do!

Easter is not that far away, so I thought it was time to get a start on my Easter cards.  Besides, we are in the middle of an Arctic cold snap, and I need some bright Springtime colors in my life 😀.  Here's what I created for today's challenge:

I started by inking my background.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks found in the Dies R Us Store.  The rabbit focal point of the card is called Bunny Silhouette, and is by Memory Box. The frame is called Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Frames.  The sentiment is a Memory Box Mini Vintage Varsity Happy Spring.

I hope you share your creativity and join us for our Anything Goes challenge At Dies R Us Challenges. You can win a gift certificate, and 3 Designer Choice awards will be given each challenge.

I want to let you know that the Dies R Us Inspiration team is having a DT call.  It's a great company to design for, and a fun team to be on.  Here's all the details, if you are interested!

Brrrr Winter! For Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, and it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges.  Every 2 weeks, a new challenge begins!  For the next 2 weeks, the theme is 'Winter Wonderland'.  Yeah, winter is almost here, isn't it?  I actually love winter, and I adore making winter cards, so this was a great challenge for me!

Shop the Dies R Us Store.  You'll find tons of dies that fit this theme!  All you have to do is use one form a die that Dies R Us sells to be eligible for the challenge. They sell dies from dozens of companies, so that is easy to do!

My entry for the 'Winter' Theme!

I started out inking my winter sky background.  I used distress oxide inks, purchased from Dies R Us in the colors of Peacock Feathers, Speckled Egg, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, and Blueprint Sketch.  Then, I made the "snowbanks".  They are actually Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside border dies.  The cute snowbird is from Elizabeth Crafts.  The Brrrrr Winter Sentiment is part of a Winter Wishes Sentiment set from Elizabeth Crafts.

I hope you join us this next two weeks for our Winter Wonderland challenge.  Check out all the wonderful dies and supplies in the Dies R Us Store.  Canadian customers, you'll want to shopping the Didi Crafts store

It's Hot Outside Challenge -- At Dies R Us Challenges

It's the 15th of the month, so it's time for a new challenge at Dies R Us Challenges. Every 1st and 15th, a new challenge starts, with a new theme.  The theme for this challenge is "It's Hot Outside" (use hot colors -- reds, oranges, yellows).

I decided to take a different take on this challenge, and not go with the obvious summertime theme.  I stuck with red, orange, and yellow, but, well, you'll see...

I started out by inking my background with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin, and Squeezed Lemonade.  I let the background get good and dry before I went any further.  I've learned I easily get fingerprints!

The feathers are called Fluffy Feathers by Poppystamps, but this set by Impression Obsession are very similar, or this other set, also by Impression Obsession

The 'With Sympathy' sentiment is by Sue Wilson Designs

Lastly, a piece of twine from Timeless Twine finished off the card.

I hope you can join us for our "It's Hot Outside" challenge (use reds, oranges, and yellows).  It will run through the end of the month.  One gift certificate to the Dies R Us Store will be awarded and 3 Designer Choice awards.

If you live in Canada, The Didi Crafts Store ships to both Canada and the US.  Check to out for some great products and prices!

Life is Beautiful -- for Dies R Us Challenge Blog

It's the first of the month, so that means a new challenge starts today at Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  Every 1st and 15th, like clockwork, a new challenge begins! The theme for the next 2 weeks is, It's Dad's Day (Father's Day/masculine cards).  I no longer have fathers or grandfathers in my life, so I made a masculine card for this challenge.  It made me reminisce a bit about my brother and my dad when we were growing up:

Much fishing together went on between my brother and my father.  That is what this die from Frantic Stamper made me think of.  It is Fishing on the Dock of the Bay.

I created the background using Distress Oxide inks.  I let them dry for 24 hours to prevent smudging and finger prints (been there, done that!).  The 'Life is Beautiful' sentiment is from Crafter's Companion.

Every challenge, a $10 gift certificate is given away (random), and 3 designer choice awards.  You must use a die sold in the Dies R Us store on your project to be eligible for the prize.

Dies R Us has a sister store, Didi Crafts that will ship to Canadian.  If you are a Canadian reader, check it out!

Thoughtful Thank You card -- for Dies R Us Inspiration Blog

I'm posting today for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.  I love having a chance to play with my die collection!

I never seem to have enough thank you cards on hand, so I made another one for today, using a die set by Spellbinders, but many similar dies in the Dies R Us Store would work:

There are many bird dies in the Dies R Us Store  that you could make this card with, but this one by Memory Box would work particularly well.  I cut the bird out on white card stock, then inked it to get this effect.

You will find many "Thank You" sentiments in the Dies R Us Store, but the one for Dee's Distinctively Dies is very similar in size to what I used on this card.  And, of course, any sentiment would work.

The papers in this card are by We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are 2 of the papers in the Touch of Teal Collection. The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I hope you visit the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog often for great ideas on how to use your dies.  Then, shop the wonderful selection of products in the Dies R Us and Didi's Crafts Stores.

Three Peaceful Pines -- for Lavinia World Challenges

It's Thursday, and it's time for a new challenge on the Lavinia World Challenge Blog.  Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use an acrylic or a rubber stamp -- no digital images.  Of course, we'd like to see your Lavinia Stamps getting some love!

I've gotten so I really like to ink up backgrounds.  I was intimidated by this process for a long time.  Now, I just play, and ink, and add color, and see what I can create.  That's how I came up with today's card base.   Once I got the base done,  I did a bit of stamping, die cut a sentiment, and Voila!  I had a Christmas card to add to the stash:

Are any of you mystery readers?  I love reading books by author, Louise Penny.  The Chief Inspector Gamache series centers around the small town of Three Pines.  This card is my tribute to Three Pines.  May it always be peaceful there!

The pines were stamped using the Small Fairy Fir Tree 2 stamp.  I stamped it once, as is (the tall one), once using a shorter version of the trunk, then once using 2nd generation stamping to make it look like it was behind the other 2 trees. Flying into the cold winter sky is the stamp, Ducks.  I used Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black for all the stamped images.

The inked background was created with a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.  I used Seedless Preserves, Milled Lavender, Shaded Lilac, Victorian Velvet, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire.  I sprinkled a bit of water on the inks to make it look a bit snowy.

The 'Peace' die is from Elizabeth Craft.

There is also a new, exciting FaceBook group to check out!  This is the first challenge now that Anything Lavinia Group also gives you an opportunity to post your projects there.  So, if you don't blog, you can still enter our challenges.  Projects posted on the Anything Lavinia Group must include a Lavinia Stamp or paper. Wherever you decode to enter, challenges run for 2 weeks!  Have fun!

I hope you find time to join us this next 2 weeks at Lavinia World Challenges!  You might be the lucky winner of the $15 gift certificate to the Lavinia World Store, or one of the Designer Choice recipients.  I'd love to see your creations!

Oh Deer, Christmas is Here! For Jan's Digi Stamps

Here we go!  The first ever challenge at Jan's Digi Stamps Challenges, or, as those of us that have followed her work affectionately refer to it as, JDS Designs Challenge Blog.  The challenges will be on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, so what a great way to start out your week! The will run until noon (Eastern) the Sunday before the new challenge.  You'll find all the rules on a tab at the JDS Designs Challenge Blog.  Her beautiful digis can be found in her shop here.

For the first challenge, I wanted to showcase one of Jan's beautiful Christmas images.  I decided on a silhouette so I could play with inks.  This is 722J Reindeer:

Each of Jan's Digi Stamp's sets comes with a black and white version (what I used here), a pre-colored image, and several sentiments.  This set also has each of the deer separated, so you can also use them in whatever configuration you wish.  Lots of flexibility here!

I placed the Reindeer family to my liking on white card stock, then placed the sentiment (included in the Reindeer set) where it appealed to my eye. Then, it was time to ink it up.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks to achieve the look I wanted, and lightly spritzed some water on it to give the look of snow.

The snowbanks were cut out with dies from Lawn Fawn.  The snowflake background was created using a Gemini Hot Foil Press machine and a foil stamp.   The blue snowflakes are dies from Cheery Lynn.

That's it!  My first card for the first challenge at JDS Designs Challenge Blog.  It's Anything Goes! You might win a $9 gift certificate to the store!

Peace -- for Sheepski Designs

It's November  1,  and there's a new challenge starting at the SheepSki Designs Challenge Blog.  Our theme this month is  Christmas is coming (and it is!).

I loved this relatively new image to the SheepSki Design Etsy Shop. and used it  on my card, winter deer:

I created the card by using various distress oxide inks on the background.  Then, I mounted it with a piece of black cardstock.  The snowflake background  is foiled with my  crafters companion foiling machine.

You'll find Winter Deer and other beautiful SheepSki Designs Images in the Etsy Shop.
