Growing In Unity -- Day 1 -- Hearts, Hearts, Hearts

Looking for the Simply White Timeless Twine Blog Hop?  Click HERE!
Hello, and welcome! I'm so glad you are here, and I'm so excited to be the Growing In Unity girl this week.  Five days to play with Unity red rubbah.  Oh yeah!
Angela and the Unity girls are so generous that they give you a chance to win 2 Unity Itty Bitties of your choice. All you need to do is comment on this post.  Come back each day to increase your chances to win.  I'll choose a winner early next week.
OK, let's get to the FUN!  And, I'm also hoping for some feedback.  I have two cards to show you today.  I made the first card, and it just didn't click for me:

I spiced it up from the original card, adding the Timeless Twine behind the heart and the Timeless Twine bows to the punched hearts.  But, it still seems lacking to me.  Give me your ideas on how to bring it to life....
I used Unity Stamp Company's "Everything Love" stamp set on this card (both the heart and the sentiment.  I love the "Everything" sets -- they're so versatile!

The second card also uses hearts.  It's pretty much my theme for the week!

This card uses the Stamp of the Week Itty Bitty, "Love Makes the World".  I colored it with Copic markers and used a Lifestyle Crafts circle die to cut it out.  The heart behind it was cut out on my Cricut.  Those great chipboard hearts are from UmWow Studios and are Heart Confetti. Do you see the tiny heart over North America?  It's strategically placed over where I live.
Papers on both these cards are from Crate Paper Fourteen -- a 6x6 pad.  Timeless Twine colors used are Key Lime Sorbet and Bubblegum Pink.
Hope to see you again tomorrow for day 2!

  1. GIU week with Julie O?! Woo woo…I know this will be fun. You're starting out just right with these two beauties. Fun little hearts on your Love makes the world card…great job on both cards my dear! Happy Monday!

  2. I would glitter the big red heart. It seems to plain and drags down the rest of the card. You could do some layering on it too - that might help. the card is pretty but it doesn't pop. Love the second card. Using the map for background and the globe in the heart is great. Love the wood hearts. I'm using them on some of my Valentine's cards. thanks for sharing.

  3. Woohoo, you go GIU girl! :) I like both cards but you can never go wrong adding more bling (i.e., rhinestones)! Lovely touch of UWS chippy for the second card. :) Look forward to more awesome inspiration from you during the week! :)

  5. Congrats on your GIU week! Hope you are keeping well and warm! I think the first card needs some bling, either gems or sequins. You could put one gem on the red heart, either in the little loop that precedes the "L" or inside of the letter "o" and then a gem on both of the blue hearts. Or you could put the gem on the red heart and then 3 gems in a line along the bottom right corner of the red/pink striped paper strip. That would help move the eyes from the red heart down to the bottom right corner. Love the second card- I need to use this stamp!

  6. I like both cards! Great colors on the second one, and nice details on the first! Nice color combo, some added sparkle with the ribbon... not sure what else I'd add! Maybe a piece of doily under the rectangle layer?

  10. I could see some lace or a doily under those 2 hearts on the first card but heck..I'd be happy to get it as is! Lookn forward to your week. ...

  11. I would bling up the heart in the first card and pop dot it up. They are both nice and I think its fine as is too. Sometimes my creation don't turn out like I thought and I understand the frustration.

  12. Way to go...again...Julie! :) I like both card & love that you marked where you live! On the first one I think I'd try inking some of the edges to make the shapes pop a little. Hope I can make it back for more this week! :)

  15. I love your first card, Julie! I'd maybe add some Stardust Stickles outlining all 3 hearts on that card, but you know me, I'm obsessed with that stuff, lol. Great job on both and can't wait to see what you do the rest of the week. :-)

  16. I really like both cards! But maybe that is just because I am a novice... :( The first card is so pretty without relying on bling. It is bright and still sedate. I *like* that abt it. The second card is wonderful with that old map....love maps!

Looking fwd to visiting all week!!

  20. Great cards, Julie! I really like the hearts with the twine - that love everything set is a new favorite of mine! I reach for it ALL THE TIME!

  21. You're crazy, the first one is gorgeous! But I do maybe understand that you think it needs a "pop," I think it's because the sentiment sort of blends into the red heart. I think maybe if it were heat embossed in white?? I still love the card, though! :)

  29. These are both super cute! Love these stamps!

  30. I really like that second card - the colors and hearts and map are great together! The first one is cute, but maybe the problem is that there is too much on it to be CAS and not enough to be collage-y. I feel like it could either have more embellies on it or some grunge and distressing on the kraft card base. Maybe not - what do I know :)

  35. Great to see your valentines creations! On the first card I would either outline the banners with a thin black marker or put white gel pen dashes around the outside of the card to tie it all together.
Love the wooden hearts and that heart shaped world map stamp!

  36. Oh, loving your sweet Valentine cards! My favorite is that world image...so unique!
